The hard drive is not turned on. enter service mode ( utility, meter count, details, stop, 0, 0, stop, 0, 1 - this should be pressed in exact succession) then go to system 2 and look for a place where it asks you about all the installed perifferals. Turn the hard drive setting on.

The Garman works when out of the vehicle but when in the vehicle the Garman reads "cannot detect satellite"

try reseting the unit - the reset button is under the antenna.Keep in mind that satellite acquisition is only possible outdoors or in a vehicle. Last case scenario try a hard reset (will erase all your saved places and bookmarks) - hold your finger on the upper right corner of the nuvi's screen while turning on the nuvi keep your finger pressed until the popup window appears - touch yes to clear all user data.

Look near the SN # and press the reset button.

with the garmin off, hold down the right bottom of the screen and turn the garmin on, it will then ask you if you want to perform a hard reset. Choose yes and that should fix your problem.

Garmin Nuvi 350 Calibration Issue

Turn the unit off. Press and hold down the power button and keep holding it. You will see the screen light up and it will say "pre-boot mode". Keep holding down the power key. It will then say "booting". Keep holding the power button down. You'll then come to the calibation screen. Select the dots and you'll be back in business.

Nuvi 350 on off problems

This is a common problem with the Nuvi series. The on/off switch is a surface mount switch that is mounted vertically off of the main PC board.

The problem is, that there is no support behind the switch, so when you press down the button, the solder leads of the switch are stressed and eventually break off the main PC board. This is a design flaw and could have been easily prevented by wedging a small piece of plastic between the rear of the switch and the SD card housing to give the switch support.

Also, the solder pads for the mechanical connections of the switch could have been made bigger, allowing for more surface area and more solder application.

I have repaired many of these before and I'll be posting a step-by-step procedure on how to fix this and prevent it from happening again.

I must point out however, that in order to make this repair, you will need to have skills in dissassembly and soldering.

Also, please only attempt this procedure if your unit is out of warranty.

If you would like for me to repair your GPS, please email me at KS3R at sharc dot net.
