Model 9p6034c102 picture going out

My picture will sometimes be real red and fuzzy around the outsides, sometimes it will split screen and be fuzzy. Sometimes I can turn it off and on and it will be fine other times it will continue to be bad. Its like the picture is going out. Any help?

I have sound and video. I am getting the red and green as well and it sometimes rolls or moves around. Other times the picture works just fine. Its seems like the picture is in the begining stages of going out. Any help with this???

I finally broke down and called a repair man out. It was my cooling fluid in the blue tube. He ended up changing the blue and green . Cost me about $300 better than buying a new tv. He said it was common on the philps magnavox . Hope this helps

Mainly just blurry and red and green. I also had to have them back out cause it was doing it again and this time they replace something on the circuit board. Not sure what it was though cause the wife was dealing with it.

If you have no sound or video or if your screen keeps shrinking and expanding its typicaly the opto chip. You can get the chip and repair instructions from www.magnavoxhelp.com . This is a fairly common problem.

Thanks for the update aadams68! It's amazing how many people post their problems on this site but never bother to post when or how they fixed their set.

Question: You first stated that the picture was going in and out? Was it shrinking or expanding or was it just real blury?

Our Phillips flat screen TV picture is split down the middle vertically. One side shows a mirror image of the other side, and then sometimes one side is a lighter shade than the other, when it is full...

This may be due to a faulty Timing Control board (TCON board). I had a similar problem with my Samsung LCD TV picture being split vertically down the middle. The image on both halves appeared fuzzy and in reverse (mirror) including the menus. I replaced the TCON board and the problem was resolved.

I have a WD 65831 Mitsubishi television. I love it and have had NO problems so far with it. The picture and letters on the screen seem slightly fuzzy (out of focus). I had the bulb burn out and I replaced...

Projection TV sets have two very common problems oulined below.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • No Audio/Video - TV Makes Chirping Sound

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc

Can`t get clear picture anymore

Hello dhack56,

Can you post a picture of the screen as the TV is playing, this way I can see if the picture is fuzzy, or if the images are split, all of which classify as not a clear picture. A picture of the screen will help with the diagnosis.

Thank you,

Picture

Its a slight possibility that a 2.00 Part called a capacitor could be bad on the screen drive voltage source. But most likly it sounds like the Picture tubes are comming to the end of there life expectancy. If the crts are weak there is a crt rejuvinator that could possibly clean the grids off each color gun. But this is a crap shoot, as sometimes it destroys the tubes. These type of repairs are not for the handi-man or a consumer to do. There are no real user replaceable parts inside so unless your able to solder and know the HI Voltage saftey issues, you should call a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
