Question about RCA HD52W59 HDTV Projection Television

Fl231 fuse compatibility

RCA HD52W59 w/ ITC222 Conv board

I've been reading all of the posts about convergence and have the same problem as a lot of other people on here. The convergence is all out of wack and the convergence option is missing from the menu. I pulled fl231 and tested it. It is bad.

The only place where I could find the fl231 fuse was servicemanuals.vstore.ca. They didn't have any specific information about the fuse on the site. All it said was that it was the fl231 replacement fuse. I ordered one and it arrived today. The numbers on the fuse don't match the ones on the blown one. They are both 400ma 125v, but the new one is f400ma and the old one is t400ma. I searched for f400ma on google and it said that it was a quick blow fuse. If I'm not mistaken the t400ma is a slow-blow.

Is this the correct fuse for my set?

Yes, thats the replacement fuse for your set. However unless you have replaced the convergence power supply also chances are the fuse will blow again, as the power supply shorting is what causes the convergence to get out of alignment and it will then blow FL231 thereby removing the convergence option from the menu.

I see a possible fix for missing convergence on a rca hd52w59 by replacing the convergence fuse. I've looked all over and can't find it. If it really has this fuse, where is it??? Thanks

If your looking in the rear of the set on the far left side you will see a large black HV transformer that has a large red wire coming from its top. Thats the flyback transformer look directly to the right of that and you will see three small brown rectangles with FL221, FL231 and FL251 stamped on it. The center one is FL231 if thats blown the set will have a 3D look and the auto convergence feature will no longer be listed under the setup menu.

Does the rca 52950 have the fl231 fuse? If so where is it located? If not which fuse controls the convergence. I fixed my newer model tv with the fl231 fuse but I dont see it in this tv.

no the fl231 fuse is only for model itc222 rca's . these older set unfortunately do not have that fuse convergence is contolled by a sepreated cuircit board. also these set have no stk ics that are common for most set that control convergence. it uses a series off transistors.

My convergence keep going out, I replaced the convergence twice. I have a rca hd52w59 modle

When you say replaced the convergence twice, are you refering to the convergence boards or the FL231 fuse? If its the FL231 fuse unless you replaced the DL231 and CL230 plus reflowed the solder on the flyback it will continue to keep blowing untill the 3 parts are replaced together and the flyback gets resoldered. If you replaced the convergence boards then try resoldering the flyback.

RCA R52WH74 (ITC222A Chassis)

no the board that has the FL231 on is the ITC222 deflection board. The other board is above the chassis in a seperate frame that runs across the set the convergence power supply is the board on the left above the board where the fL231 is. Yes the ITC222 and ITC222A are the same chassis. As for the service manual that site should have the service manual under the thomson category as the ITC 222 chassis is actually a thomson chassis made for RCA.

RCA HD52W59 Convergence issues after some repairs.

Hello rmolen,

This is an indication that the convergence amps are drawing too much current which has an effect on the power supply and thus killing your sound by removing or lowering the voltage supplied to that stage, finally this results in the blowing of the fuse. I would suggest that you change the convergence amplifiers and the biasing resistors (All of them) and then see if this corrects your problem (I believe it will). Also get a schematic of the TV and try to find out how the power supply relates the sound module and the convergence module, they might share a common power bus, or the voltage regulator for the sound also feeds the convergence board.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
