Re: change default desktop
See Page 15 of your Manual supplied with your device. If you don't have it, it is:
'Window' logo in the top left-hand corner of the screen, or from the 'Start' menu, tap settings/Today/ Items, then check/uncheck iPAQ entertainment. If iPAQ entertainment is checked all other options are overridden.

There are some known issues with the included charging equipment. Personally, I ordered a relatively inexpensive charger from Amazon.com that works wonderfully. All you really need is a device that turns a standard wall plug into a USB charger. You can then plug your base that the ipaq stands on into that and it should begin charging. The old battery is probably dead (mine was), but try to charge it anyway.
Note: The actual cord that came with my charger DID NOT WORK. It is sitting in a box somewhere, and if its the same thing I had (it probably is), then you just need the wall-to-USB converter.
Does anyone know anything at all about changing defaults (other than what the software provides for) in any programs on the iPAQ?
If somebody knows something about ini (or other) files that might let me change these defaults, that would be most helpful.
have the same unit. Indoor pictures are hard to take, since there is no flash. You can change the light settings, but it still look dark unless it's a REALLY well-lit area.
When using the camera, hit the settings button on the screen and tap on White Balance. Try using "Tungsten" or "Fluorescent" and see how those work for your lighting conditions. The camera works best when there's natural light present.
