I have a pc using ethernet and laptop using wireless connected to belkin and they both work fine, I use wep security on belkin. My son has an xbox 360 we want to connect it using wireless. If i remove security on belkin the xbox connects fine, if i then put security back on, the xbox gets disconnected. With security on the xbox asks me for wep key, i enter the same as on the belkin, it keeps saying invalid wep. Ive checked connection setting and ip address etc and they all match. Im not a wiz at this kind of stuff, i just cant see where im going wrong. Please help

You can find the wireless password also called wep key or wpa pass phrase through the set-up page of the router. If you don't know how to access it, follow the instruction in How to Access the Router's Setup Page (just click it.)
you might need to disconnect your modem for 30 secs then reconnect it . i have just reset my router and then the pc would show a connection but it only went to the router not through to the web.disconnect your modem reconnect then do a reconnect on the pc
that happens alot when one or more device (for instance, the xbox 360 and a cpu) are trying to use the same ip address make sure you have the xbox 360 and all other devices (cpu's/printers) that are connected to the router set to aquire ip address automatically
I believe you are referring to the network key set on the Belkinrouter. Since you do not have the code, you will have to access yourrouter's web interface. Let's begin with your router:
Using your working laptop, open Internet Explorer type 192.168.2.1 (default IP address of Belkin routers) press Enter. It will ask for a username and password - by default it'sadmin for both. If it does not accept admin, type in the username andpassword you set to your router when you installed it for the firsttime.
Once you open the setup page of the router, go to the Wireless tab ofthe router (located on the left side of the web interface. Look forSSID and WEP key or Network key (SSID is the name of your wireless network). Take note of the SSID and WEP keybecause you will need to set this on the XBOX console.
On the XBOX:
Open the dashboard settings - select Network Settings. Configure your XBOX to connect to your wireless network. When it ask for the network key - type in the code that you will see on the router's web interface.
Try the steps I mentioned, give us an update and I'll reply ASAP if you need further assistance.
From the menu on the left, select Wireless, then Encryption.
You should be able to change the settings there.
As im sure your aware, you will have to reconfigure the other 5 clients to use WPA after doing this. I would recommend having a least on client connected by ethernet to the router so that if changes make the wireless inaccessable, you can still access the routers configuration.
normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.
i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected
