I just received the PD808B unit only to discover there are no cables to connect to the AV, S-Video or Coaxial out ports. Deep in the GPX website, I found reference to need to order cables from GPX since third party ones may not work. They don't. I ordered the AV cable from GPX but they do not supply the S-Video or the Coaxial audio cables. Somewhat misleading, there are out ports for S-Video and Coaxial audio but no GPX cables. Does anyone have a solution to get these cables elsewhere?

I visited RadioShack without my player and they said bring it in to try and fit cables. They do not have, however, a 3.5 mm plug to S-Video. They never heard of it but that is what the GPX unit calls for. Thanks for your reply. bogey10

Thanks for the added info. I will trek to Radio Shack to see what they will come up with. I searched Cabelstogo.com and did not find the 3.5 to S-Video. Thanks again.

-   I purchased a GPX PD708B portable DVD player and had the same trouble. I tried a 3.5mm to RCA cable (4 conductor), it didn't work on either the input or output connection. The GPX Customer Support wasn't helpful, all they would say is that "you can only get the cable from us" (and it's $15). Their website says it's a unique cable too, but this isn't stated in the manual that comes with the unit. I believe I'll return it and get my money back. -   Guest
If you live in the US, you can take your DVD player into Radio Shack and get the right cables you need. GPX doesn't use any proprietary cable to get it to work. In fact they probably use the same source Radio Shack uses.

- Use a 3.5mm plug to RCA and get and S-Video to RCA adaptor. They carry both of them.
The pin on a regular 3.5mm av to rca is TOO SHORT. If you get the unit from GPX, you'll note it is a bit longer. I found this problem also affected Sony and other portable DVD players - the regular 3.5mm plug is TOO SHORT. I haven't found a source other than GPX for the av cable with the correct length plug. Weird but true.

I can see details of extremely bright screen if I go to a dark place and angle it properly. Restoring default doesn't help. Altering brightness and contrast doesn't help.

I have a GPX PD808B, the speakers stop working. I tried the head phones, they also don't seem to work. Can it be fixed and is it worth it to fix?
