Use the lens cleaning disc for automatic cleaning.if it still does not work ,open the device and clean the lens manually with a soft damp tissue.the lens is very delicate made of very thin glass and is delicate so clean it gently.

pls do rate the solution

Unless you feel qualified to repair a CD changer I would not attempt that repair the unit other than a cleaning cycle for the lens with a cleaning disk avail at any audio store, Good Guys, Best BuY etc. I would rather see you get an exchange changer unit from an authorized repair station for Audi, you dealer can supply that info, don't have the dealer exchange it he will add on a charge go direstly to the repiar shop.. The exchange unit will be a rebuilt unit with a warranty, some offer a lifetime warranty.

This is a problem with the optical eye or reader board, and is common problem with these. Unfortunately, the changer will have to be replaced.

Disconnect the disk changer and open it and clean the lens with the lens cleaner and if there are any obstacles or dust particles in the disk tray then clean them ...

after that try playing you will surely able to play it ..

by chance if you still persist the same problem then change the rubber belt connecting the DC motor inside ..

if you still persist the problem then the lens life cycle might have gone instead of replacing you can buy a new disk changer as the lens are costly ...

Just try to use a optical head cleaner, this may solve your problem

Hi i need the radio unlock code for a 1999 Audi A6 quattro please because my brother changed the battery after it died, and it reset the electrical system and we dont have the code for it. If you guys...

Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot supply you with a code but I can give you some very useful advice that will ensure you get your code direct from Audi for FREE!!

Not many people are aware of this and Audi Dealers often try to pull a stunt where they will charge you for this code. However..... read on.....

When your Audi was supplied new it came with a keycard with your radio details and the code for the radio embossed on it. On the back of that card it clearly states and I quote as near as I can to the actual wording.

"In the event that your codecard is lost - please contact your Audi Network dealer and Audi will provide the owner with the code for your radio for FREE"

I know that you may have purchased your car second hand and not from new but that is not the point. Audi themselves have printed this on the back of the keycards supplied with these cars and you are entitled to get the code for free.

What happens is that as changes of ownership occur the keycards get lost and subsequent owners are not aware of this promise from Audi printed on the back of the card. Audi dealers will try to charge but they are NOT entitled to do this. If you run into any bother quote their own terms back at them and demand that they satisfy their own terms. If they do not capitulate tell them you want to speak directly with head office and that you will take it up with trading standards.

You will get your code - mark my words!

You should also be aware that these Audis cannot be decoded via serial except by the Audi Network from their own database and there is absolutely no other way of getting the code unless you send the radio to a specialist decoding workshop which will also cost around £40.

So - stand your ground - explain that you know your rights and you will get your code for free. One of the very few manufacturers that will supply for free - the other being Honda. The rest all charge.

Let us know how you get on. If you have any problems I may have an Audi Codecard here that I could scan for you but rest assured this is their own language and promise.

Hope it helps. Please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks for using FixYa

Have had a garage change the radio in my Audi A4. The new radio is showing "Safe Code". I was advised that this wouldl change into four zero's in about 30 minutes to an hour with the ignition...

shouldnt take this long but it can take 24hras before it reads ,i would advise fitting a aftermarket unit withy a USB and SD card reader rather than an old VW one like this

My 2004 chevy 2500 six disc changer is not reading the cd's. When I load a cd it kicks it out and says check cd. The battery was replaced a few days ago. thanks scott

you need a laser cleaning, they cost around $50, but i am not aware if anyone does them anymore. you will have to check around with local repair shops.

When i change from radio or single disc to the 6 disc changer there is an error it won't read any discs.... It wont even change discs it won't do anything really...

I suspect that your 6 cd changer is having the fault. The error indicates always a system malfunctioning. From our point of view we can probe into for a solution by the following guidelines.
first of all open the 6 Cd changer from the top. look within to find that the changer is jammed inside. If so slowly tapp while you switch on the power. if the jamm clears and the changer ejects, then open out all the cd's present in the changer for any damage due to heat. If this did not solve, clowing chek for foreign particles/dust that has blocked the loading drive.from completing the cycle so as to reset the mode. normally all errors show because of the processor not receiving the complete cycle signals. hence check for all the moving parts, the drives and the loading mechanism. check also for any linkage damge, any leadd specially flexible line wiring to the motors for an open circuit. Slowly turn the motor drive to intiate to confirm if the motor has failed. Altogether use a multimeter and check in all the sections described.
I hope this helps. Good day.

I have a six disk cd player in my 2005 trailblazer. It just quit working. It has 6 disck in it, and there is a line under the number 3 and number 2 is not showing. When I go to the source CD player,...

The unit is bad. Either a mechanical issue with the changer mechanism, or the laser inside the unit is not recognizing the CD's. You'll need to have the unit opened up by a stereo shop or service center and have all discs removed. Then, the unit needs to be tested after that. On rare occasions, disconnecting the constant power from the radio (either by unplugging it or disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 seconds) will cause the unit to reset and work properly.

I installed an "Audi 6-disc changer" in my 2001 A6. The installation went without a hitch..connection and bracket mounting was fine... it performs as expected except it seems to be extra...

Most CD changers for cars have setting for the internal springs. The springs are postioned one way for a vertical mounting and 90 degrees different for a horizontal mounting. If this is incorrect, set for vertical when it is mounted horizontal or vice-versa, the unit will skip very easy.

I am not familiar with the Audi changers, I repair only aftermarket changers like Kenwood, JVC, Sony ect. but they all have a mounting direction setting on the sides of the changer. It can be adjusted with a flat head screwdriver. Try looking for this setting on the outside edges of the changer.

I hope this helps and a "FixYa!" rating would be appreciated if this free help solves your problem.

Thanks and let me know if I can be of any more assistance,

Dave
