I have a samsung r710 laptop which i have had for a few years. I started to have problems with the battery charge not lasting long which got worse until it wouldn't charge at all. The battery went to...

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

Wont power up no lights

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? If not then -The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty.Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Connecting Alba DVD to Toshiba TV

If the TV has the red, white and yellow sockets on it you can use an adapter. It's a scart plug on one end (for the DVD player) and 3 little round sockets on the other, usually red, white and yellow, sometimes red, black and yellow, like this:Amazon.
Then you need an audio/video lead with red, white and yellow plugs on both ends like this:Amazon

Or one of these:Amazon

You could also use a multi socket scart adapter to add more scarts to your TV:Amazon

Laptop can't power on without battery. but plugged in

Try this. With the battery removed.
  • Plug in the AC.
  • Will pressing the power button repeatedly gently wiggle the AC adapter
If it powers on briefly then your DC jack inside the computer will need to be replaced or re-soldered.
If if doesn't power on at all get or borrow a multi-meter and set it for 20+V. With the AC adapter plugged into the wall and unplugged from the PC touch one probe to the outer metal on the part that plugs into the laptop and one probe down the center of the plug. If the probe doesn't go in all the way stick a paper clip down the center (dont let it touch the outer metal) and touch the probe to that. Ignore if the voltage reading is negative or not this just means the probes are reversed and doesn't matter really if you get a reading +-1 volt from what is listed on the AC brick. If you get nothing or it is very low then the AC adapter needs to be replaced.
If the AC is fine. Then it could be the fuse on the motherboard. In that event easiest route would be to replace the motherboard (don't think you can buy the fuses)
Comment back if you need more assistance.

Describe your 18" Wild Thing

Check your chain tensioner. It is a little metal tab on a screw inside of the cover. If it is missing the tab that sticks out, you need a new one.
You can't really just put any chain on it with more teeth. You have to make sure you have a matching bar to go with it. The good news is, most of the big box hardware stores have "easy match" bars and chains. This will be sure you don't screw up and get the wrong chain for the wrong bar. Be warned though, running anything longer than the factory chain will likely decrease performance. The saws aren't really meant for heavy logging.

I just bought a super nintendo off ebay and i went to plug in a ac adapter for it but i looked and i saw that the metal piece that sticks out from the system that goes in the ac adapter plug is missing all...

Well the round metal part where the rf switch is supposed to go into is broken off so you couls use the av cables for SNES and N64 instead of using the rf switch or you could of bought a crappy console then.

I have a fisher price smart cycle and do not see how the wires fit onto the TV . the wires are yellow, white , red but i don't see how they fit am i missing something or some part that makes it fit?

Generally speaking, the yellow wire is for the video (the pictures and graphics on the screen), and the white and red wires are for the audio (the music and sounds for the speakers). The white wire would be for the left channel or speaker, and the red wire for the right channel or speaker. The connections for these wires are usually RCA phono plugs. These plugs have a small metal cylinder or jack in the center of the plug, and 3 squarish metal pieces surrounding the jack - the whole jack or plug looks a bit like a flower with its stamen in the middle.

These RCA jacks fit into corresponding holes or sockets on your TV that are color-coded just like the plugs are - there should be a yellow socket for the video, and a red and a white socket for the audio left and right. Most TV's have these sockets. On older TV's, there should be a yellow, red, and white set of sockets on the front or the back of the TV that the jacks from the wires you are trying to connect fit into. On newer TV's, like high-definition TV's, these sockets might also be found on the side panel of the TV.

You can check your owner's manual for your TV to see what sort of connectors/sockets it has available. Usually most TV's will have a set of RCA connectors to plug your wires into. Other types of connections include VGA, DVI, or HDMI. If you do not have any RCA connections on your TV (unlikely), then you can cheaply buy an appropriate adapter from your local electronics store or a place like Radio Shack or Wal-Mart.

Some of these adapters are called "Y-adapters," and allow you to connect all 3 of the yellow, red, and white wires, to the adapter, and then the adapter plugs into the appropriate connector on the TV, which might be a VGA connector, or even an HDMI connector. Again, check the owner's manual for your TV, and bring it with you if you need to go hunting for an adapter to connect your device.

For your reference, VGA connectors, the older type, are usually blue in color and have 9 pins for the male connector, or 9 holes, for the socket. Whether it's audio, video, electrical wiring, plumbing, or computers, the "gender" of a connection is always the same: the socket or holes end is female, the male or pins end is male.

The newer HDMI connectors are flat and have just one row of pins or holes inside a metal sheath.

So, basically, you need to figure out what sort of connections your TV has to plug into. If it has red, white, and yellow RCA phono connections, you are all set. I do hope that this has not confused you further! I do try to help, and I wish you all the best in connecting your smart cycle.

Dell C640 will not power up w/ac ad

  1. Verify that the AC adapter brick is receiving power.
Shut down the computer and unplug the adapter from the system first and then from the power socket. Wait 5 seconds.
  2. Plug the adapter directly into the wall socket, bypassing surge protectors, UPS units, or extension cords. The adapter LED should produce a steady green light.
  3. If you do not get a green light, try the adapter in another wall outlet in another room or verify that the first outlet works with a lamp or hairdryer.
  4. You can also isolate the power problem to a bad adapter by swapping it out with a second adapter - such as one for use with the port replicator.
  5. If the adapter LED lights, check the computer for bad connections.
  6. Examine the system power socket to be sure it does not have any bent, missing, or pushed-in pins.
  7. Plug the adapter connector directly into the computer, bypassing surge protectors, extension cords, etc. Be sure that the adapter connector fits tightly into the computer's power socket.
  8. If you have access to another computer like yours, try your adapter on it or its adapter on your computer.
  9. If your computer is still under warranty and the AC adapter does not respond to troubleshooting, please contact your computer manufacturer.
