Question about D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

D-link Airplus I have installed this on three computers, and it works perfectly on two of them. However, when using it on my laptop, it picks up the network, but when you try to connect it simply continues saying connecting and never connects. if you then cancel the connecting process it loses the network all together and cannot find it again. sometimes is connects, but simply flashes between connected and not connected every two seconds or so, so it is impossible to access the network. I am using Windows XP and installed the adaptor using the drivers on the CD. Can anyone give me any advice?

Hi there, I recently had to reinstall Windows XP and of course then reinstall the Airplus DWL-G510 drivers. I accidentally did this whilst the card was still installed in the PC (Which it tells you not to...

If you are not OK with editing the XP registry, then I would enlist a computer savy friend to help you. If you make a mistake the computer will be inoperative and needs Windows XP re-installed again.
The other way is to re-install Windows XP from scratch but make sure the Airplus is card removed first.
To fix your problem using Regedit follow these steps :-
1. Remove the program using Add/Remove Program.
2. Delete the Airplus folder from the Program Files folder.
3. Click on Start - Run and type Regedit (registery editor)
4. Click on Edit then Find and type Airplus
5. Click Find Next
6. When Regedit finds a Airplus entry then delete this entry and press the F3 key to find the next Airplus entry - delete and repeat until all Airplus entries have been removed.
7. Close Regedit and reboot the laptop.
8. Install the Airplus driver etc.

If this doesn't work then re-install Windows XP from scratch, it might be quicker to solve this problem in the long run.
Have fun.
Let me know how things go.

Uninstall any and all "Norton" application from your computer using the "Norton uninstaller". Then reinstall the network adapter drivers.
The norton firewall causes a HUGE LOT of problems to the network adapters.
Get another security solution, other than any "norton" product.

Wi-fi card on Win98SE laptop not allowing internet to connect.

I really believe this is some kind of driver error. You must first remove the existing driver and then install the following driver.

If that doesn't work we're gonna have to try messing with the wireless router settings.

have you tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing again? or maybe you need some updates on your D-Link wifi card.

Just go to http://support.dlink.com/chooseCountry.asp and pick the country you live in then follow the directions. You'll need the model number of the device your using and the OS. Download the driver and install it might have to reboot the system also.

Basic Installation

Hi,

You need to use the D-Link USB WiFi Utility and manually configure the WiFi Network. Sometimes the built-in Windows WiFi Configuration doesn't work well with some USB WiFi and/or when no WEP/WPA security installed.  You may need to manually enter the SSID, "Open" encryption and "Disabled or "Not USed" security settings.

Good luck and kind regards.
