Yes, for best results. Your subwoofer should have a seperate amplifier because it has low pass filter that produces low frequency signals. It is done by connecting the sub woofer output to the input signal of the amplifier and then connecting the output signal to the subwoofer speaker terminals. Hope this helps.
If you didn't find any burned parts that would mean one of the buffer amplifiers before the power amp could have died. They could either be transistor based or opamp based. They are fairly low power so they will not explode like the output transistors like to do. Contact rockford, they should be able to send you a schematic. Let me know I will try to help you through it.
i've already test my amp and crossover by putting jumper fr/ B+12 to remote and both turned on,i'll be using ipod or mp3 player for music output thats why it made me confuse of the remote connection,yeah i'll just make a switch for the both of them beside so i could turn them off,thanks guys you help a lot,i used to set up old amps and they don't have remote switch they already have a built in switch.it's been a while,i should be chatting you guys to get informed,thanx again guys
You missed something. Use the good channel (A) to compare resistance and or voltage readings against the defective channel. Obviously you've removed the dead short issues (AC fuse is holding) BUT your signal path is still askew. Any transistors/diodes under suspect should be removed from the circuit for proper testing....Glen
It's rare that 2 channels will fail simultaneously, are you sending 4 signals to the amp or just 2?
If you are sending just 2, perhaps the problem lies before the amp in the cabling to it, or the output from the headunit. If you are sending 4 signals then there may be a fuse in the amp that drives 2 channels out of the 4. Of course this may be the case should you just be sending 2 signals.
Go to Radio shack and get you an adapter that will take an earphone jack and convert it to RCA male. You use this to simulate the signal coming from the reciever. Hook up to a Cd player or Walkman, anything with an earphone output jack. Test that the device actually puts out music or anything worth listening to. Connect the device to the input of your amp, with the car running, and the reciever turned on.. This will tell yo if the signal is getting from the reciever to the amp. You may not be getting signal from the head unit.
If you still get no sound to the woofers, dsisconnect the woofers and try a different speaker. If that speaker dont work, Change setting and switches., and if you still get no sound, then your amp is toast.
