On my Frigidair Gallary front load washer the door lock light stays on, the machine will not turn on no matter what I do. No clicking or noises can be heard, just when I pull the knob the lamp comes on no matter what position the knob is turned. The washer is only 4 years old.

Hi Bob, thank you for your post! I understand that your door
will not lock and your washer will not drain. Try resetting the unit by
either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait
approximately ten minutes and turn on the washer. Select a normal cycle and
verify if the washer will start. If not, the washer may possibly be
experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or
control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any
one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional
to properly diagnose and repair the unit.
On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.
is the door locked and the locked light on??? these things will not spin if the door does not lock and register with the control unit that it is so.. latch may need replacement. does it move at all, in any cycle?? if not the belt may have came off, theres usually a reason why tho, investigate and correct. worst case scenario you will have to locate the technicians data sheet inside the lower part of the unit (i hope) and check the diagnostics button dance out and follow through the diagnostic for your units problem.. you may find the motor or motor controller to have defected. hope this helps, best of luck, ttfn
