If its a mini split/ductless split its worth calling a tech. You can't buy freon legally unless you have an epa license. Also the minisplits are a bit complicated so experience is great! But.... It should be betwee 78°-95° outdoors. There is only 1 charging port. At the copper lineset that connects to the o.d. unit there should be a shraeder valve. Remove the cap, connect toyour low side port from your low side of your guages. Hook up your middle hose from your guages to the drum of freon, probably R-410-a, and open the valve on the drum. Both handles on the guages should be closed/seated. Slightly open the middle hose at the gauges by unscrewing it just a little for 3-4 seconds to bleed any air in the hose and then close it. Do the same on the low side hose for about 1 second. Turn the drum of freon over/upside down or follow the freons' charging instructions(should be on the drum/can). Using a clamp on amp meter, clamp on to the compressors common wire. Verify your compressors RLA (max amperage while operating) Turn on the cooling at the t-stat/remote to its lowest set temp. Wait 7-10 minutes. The unit should have started and operating if not you cant charge it until it has started atempting to cool. If the rla is very near its rated rla it don't need freon. If its low on freon the rla will be low. Open low side port on guages for 2-3 seconds and then close. Wait 5-7 mins. You should hear the compressor increase in speed and rla will increase also on your amp meter. This should be repeated until the rla is near the rated rla on the data plate/sticker/sheet. After charging close all valves that are open and qhickly remove hose from shraeder valve. The best way is to weigh the freon in! Or to have someone (technician) locate the leak and replace or repair. R-410a freon is a blend of freons and a leaking system will loose efficiency after recharged a few times. I can't stress enough when it comes to allowing a professional work on HVAC equipment due to the fact that most freons have an ozone depletion potential and these machine have high voltage as well as capacitors that hold a higher voltage and can release when any wire is touched at a terminal. Be safe!!!

How can I put freon in my window air conditioner?

First you have to get a piercing valve and install it on the suction line. Then hook up your guages to see what the pressures are doing. If it needs freon you charge it through the piercing valve. They dont come with any access to the refrigeration system. let me know if I can further assist.

I need to add freon to my a/c unit but do not see valves can this be done by a repairman

There are no factory service valves on a wall unit, a service man can add tap valves and charge, but first the low charge diagnosis must be confirmed

Need to add 'freon' to my samsung window unit.

Hello, in order to add freon to a window unit you must add a piercing valve to then low side of the system. The valve mounts to the suction line and allows you to connect your gauges and add freon. Here is a link to where you can purchase piering valves. http://www.hvacr-tools.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HVACR&Product_Code=BPV31&Category_Code=VALVES

How long does the Briskair Duo Thermal ac run before it runs out of freon? I have medical issues and can't breathe over 70 degrees. I can't go out side. Does anyone know where to take the rv for freon? Can...

I would think your RV repairman could add refrigerant. Any heat and air company could do this for you. The unit does not have service valves in it and a port will need to be added. I have seen these units 30 years old and still holding the original charge. It is impossible to say how long it will last. If you need to add refrigerant more than once a year you have a serious leak that needs repaired.

Do you add freon to your indoor unit or your outdoor unit? I have A new 2 ton first co unit indoors unsure what I have outside. Where does the freon go?

I would highly recommend that you get a friend or hire a pro, to deal with this. You dont just add freon, is it -R22 or the new 410A type? You always charge a system from the outdoor unit! If this is a new outdoor condensor, it will be pre charged for the unit, indoor coil and roughly 15 to 25 foot of line set. But after the brazing is done,,, NEVER SOLDERING! You need to use a Vac-Pump and pull the indoor coil and lineset down to 500 microns, before you open the king valves.
If this outdoor unit was used, then does i match the indoor coil? In sizing and type of refrigerant? Need to reclaim the existig refrigerant, pull a deep vacummn on the whole system and then weigh the charge in, according to the tag on the outdoor unit. You should have a CFC license t work with any type of refrigerant, if someone turned you in, it starts with a $ 10,000.00 fine for a start, You need allof the right type of tools and knowlege, save time and money,,,, get a CFC licensed tech,he will know all of this.
Sincerely,
Paul

Duo therm 13.5 does not cool

Hello, W/D here.

Some models are equipped with charging ports, some are not. If your's doesn't have them, there is a service port that bolts on to the tubing, and the tubing is then punctured, giving you service ports. This is an easy add-on fix, and not expensive. I believe that all of the rooftop A/Cs are R22 refrigerant, so, yes, special tools and a license are required to assess the unit. If the fan/compressor works without cooling, it should be seen by a qualified technician. They can diagnose any issues, and add refrigerant if required. If you are actually low on refrigerant, you have a leak somewhere. If you system has recharging valves, it can be as simple as a valve stem leaking. As for you question regarding a relay, I doubt that this is the issue, as the fan and compressor are controlled by the relay's action, and sound like they work.

Best regards, W/D
