Try resetting the tomtom by iserting a paper clip or similar into the reset hole underneath the unit. Be carefull it only needs 1 little push , you should feel the reset button click as it's a tactile switch. Do it gently as it wont take repeated pushing . if that doesn't work you have either a software fault of files that are or "used to be " on the SD card or a battery that is on it's way out. If the same thing happens with a power supply connected then you can be sure its a software fault. try reinstalling the files back onto your SD card ( you did make a backup copy of your SD card , didn't you ? ) . if you don't have a backup then things are going to be difficult for you. there are ways and means to recover but its not easy to describe here.

Tomtom one (4N00.012) will not load up.

Your particular unit runs it's software from SD-Card. you need to check if the card is not damaged: while unpowered push the SD card to come out insert it in a card reader on your computer and see if it reads it ok, if it ask's you to format it it means it's damaged and should be replaced ( the sd card of your tomtom should be replaced with another SD card which you should buy from tomtom for your particular device not a generic one). if it reads just fine reinsert it and start the device again..And about the reset the correct procedure is: Press and hold the On/Off button until your device restarts. This can take more than fifteen seconds.904537f.gif
You should also install Tomtom Home on your computer, connect the device and update it if al the above failed (with a verified and working SD card inserted) - link for Tomtom Home: Windows, Mac

Our tomtom one 3rd edition stopped working it will not switch on or charge up even th ough green light comes on charger when plugged into car

try resetting it, but first put it on the charger for a few hours to make sure its charged. using a paper clip or something similar, depress and hold the reset button located on the bottom of the unit for 15 seconds, then hold the power button for up to 5 seconds till the unit starts.

if that fails, hook your tomtom to your computer and run tomtom home and see if that will update or repair it.

My tom tom will not activate

try to reset the unit. There is a small hole on the bottom of the unit, insert a small pin on the hole and hold it for a couple of seconds and it will reset it, you might loose the addresses saved so you might want to copy them before resetting it.

TomTom 910 problem

leave on charge for two hours, then with the SD card out hold down the reset button at the back of unit for ten seconds and then the 'on' switch for ten seconds.
STEP 1
Connect your TomTom to your
computer True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif via USB and open up your Windows Explorer and go to the drive. (It will be listed as TOMTOM (E) or some other drive letter).
Copy the Yellow Folders one by one to your PC. Ideally, save all the folders under a new folder that you name.
You may find that the folder ttntools and gns may not be copied. This is o.k. if they aren't.
STEP 2
Format your Tomtom via MY Computer.
STEP 3
Copy the Yellow Folders from the
backup True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif you made in STEP 1 back to the TomTom.
STEP 4
Open TomTom Home
Click on Upate Now.
Install the latest update onto your TomTom.
Once installed, switch your TomTom off, then disconnect if from the PC.
Thats it. From now on, make a full backup using TomTom Home prior to any updates.
Also note, that copying all the files will take some time.

"My tom tom wonts switch on. I have reset it and still it comes on with a boom boom noise and shows the 2 hands on the screen. It also shows the loading bar at the bottom, but then it just freezes and nothing happens. can anyone help please ASAP"

Sound as though your Map data card is corrupt. Remove the SD card and check it with your computer using a card reader. Backup the SD card onto your computer. You can run either chkdsk or go to the drive letter under 'My Computer' right click and select properties, then tools, then check now. You can also try starting the Tomtom with the SD card out of the unit. It should show a picture of the Tomtom with a 'X'. You can also try copying the data on the SD card to another SD card.
