Clogged vacuum - Kenmore 35922 Slate Blue

Rather stupidly, my boyfriend 1) were vacuuming without a bag and 2) vacuumed up a big piece of cotton from a sofa cushion. And now it's making a horrible noise and I see it vibrating where the tube connects to the machine. When you look inside there's a white thing sticking out but it looks like it's part of the vacuum. If it's a clog, how do you fix it? I tried unscrewing the tray the bag sits in but it won't budge. Model # is 35922

vacuum is making a loud noise. noise is coming from hose. Vacuum will work w/ hose, but not w/ brushes etc. hose gets tight when attatched to vacuum.Vacuum will not work in traditional setting. Will not suction. I do not see a clog.

35922 is not the complete model number, it will be on the back or the bottom of the vacuum. Example: 116.35922****

Brush stop and have to reset but stops again

Most likely on the edges of the brush, there's likely tons of hair and carpet wrapped on stopping the brush roller to spin. A worn or stretched belt could do this as well and trip the machine.

I have a kenmore upright direct drive vacuum. The vacuum works fine in all ways except the brush just stopped working. Any ideas?

The rubber belt which drives the brush could be broken or the brush can be clogged with string and hair etc.

I took the filter assembly apart, now I can't get it back together. There's a silver medal ring, a big cotton back, an inner plastic seal and an outer plastic seal. Somehow, they all fit back together....

The cotton bag wraps around the hepa filter - the blue plastic part will not be visible once the bag is in place. The silver ring sits inside the cotton bag to hold the sides of the bag against the sides of the vacuum top-half. DON'T pull the plastic inner seal and outer seal apart. They snap together and snap onto the lip of the vacuum top-half. It's a bit of a struggle snapping the seal back onto the lip.

Vacuum clogged. Can't figure out from where.

Follow the air path: brush, handle, tube, bag, inlet filter, exhaust filter. Run the vacuum without these , in that order, to identify where the plug is.

35922, sounds like there is a clog , have cleared hoses, put new bag in loss of suction, still hear loud clogged noise near rear vent hole

Try putting the vacuum hose end into vent hole while running. That may dislodge the clog. Otherwise, you will need to disassemble the machine far enough to get to the clog area.

Clogged vacuum

You can start by taking off the bottom plate or top cover, which ever comes off, that is where the inlet starts going in and hopefully the clog is there. Could be in the hose also. But without the complete model number I can't look it up to see a picture of it.
