Reset Epson Color Printer Counter

Many Epson Printers that reach an End of Life counter number will lock your printer down and force you to contact a Service Center.

However, this is really not necessary in all cases. If your printer is still working fine for you but the counter has locked your printer:

You understand, that resetting the ink level counters or using ink freezer function implies responsibility to carefully watch ink levels in all cartridges and timely (as soon as You see any raw white bands, even in one color) replace cartridge.

As stated above, if you printer had been working fine for you, then this utility will reset the counter so you can return to printing again.

If on examination your waste pads are 'wet' and spongy please visit this Tip Page on Servicing Your Ink Pads.

If you are having ink spillage because your pads are soaked and the waste tank is full, then you have to service the pads the waste tank. It is best to simply replace this $15 part or better yet have your entire printer serviced by a tech for a reasonable price. Any tech or shop prepared to work on printers will not charge a phenomenal fee. However, anyone not prepared to work on your printer may quote a high price and these people are best avoided.

These shops have been known to charge book prices for doing a 2 minute system reset. Just like getting you car serviced, ask around for good feedback from friends and neighbors. And, you can always use our repair shop listings at the home page by entering in your zip code.

I've tried your suggestion Worldvet in regards to resetting the counters on my printer, How ever due to the printer being a Epson Stylus CX1500, found it to be unsucessful, Please if you have any other ideas or options, it would be very appriated if you could send it to me via Email. Thanks Worldvet. I downloaded the utility to clear the protction counter on my Epson CX6400 and that took care of the problem. I will take a stab at cleanining the overflow sponges in the near future.

I have an Epson Picturemate. It's counter caused our printer to shut down in the error mode. I loaded the SSC service Utility and only have the option of "clear counter overflow" for the option under the "protection counter". When I select this, nothing happens. The rest of the utlity is not responding and states "device not found" when testing under the "resetter" tab of the main window. I also read the help file which states some printers have a manual reset, but my printer is not covered under this either. Also, do I need the print cartridge in or out, should the printer be on or off, or should something else be done while attempting to reset the counter? I have tried many configurations, but the error message persists. I can not find any guidance in the service utility either. Any advice?
