Printer would not feed paper no matter how many sheets were in the bin or how clean the printer. I even cleaned the roller. The issue was I just needed a little more tension on the roller that pulled the paper in.
I removed the rear access door (see manual). Off to the left near the feeder roller you will see a spring. What I did is mover the spring to the END of the plastic arm that it is attached to (if it is missing ..you have a bigger problem). If you have moved your printer around a bit, the spring may have slipped down on to the arm and is no longer sitting at the end. This will extend the spring another 1/16 of an inch ...and that is all all it took for me. My printer will now feed a single sheet of paper with no issues. BTW: I put a drop of glue on it after so it would not slip off.

I also have the same problem and have partially solved the problem by tilting up the front of the paper tray as another poster has already suggested. It appears to me that the pickup roller needs to be a little bit sticky so that the sheet of paper momentarily stick to the roller and got fed in.
Do you think I am wrong? If not, how do I make the roller sticky?

I've found out from another forum that I should use clean the pick-up (take-up) roller with isoprophyl alcohol. And I did it and I have no problem any longer. I hope it will stay that way.

Thanks for all the helpful comments. I unplugged my printer and shook it upside down, patted it hard on the underside and generally threatened it with a trip to the printer shop, then plugged it back in again and as if by magic it worked!! Still don't know what the problem was but the first couple of pages came out with crumbs of chocolate on them, so I guess I have 4-year-old to thank for that...

Lift up the front of the printer a few inches using a book or a box, this lets the paper move downhill slightly into the roller.

All, though I could not figure out how to take the back cover off to investigate the springs, I did carefully investigate the tension wheel that pulls the sheet(s) of paper in. It turns out that my 2 year old had dropped one of his crayons in the slot where one inserts the blank paper. Once in, it rolls perfectly out of sight and wedges itself (especially after attempting to print) to a point where it interferes with the page(s) being pulled in and causes the page to crumple and be pulled in to quickly on one side before ceasing to move or print.
The crayon was easy to remove once the printer was turned upside down and rapped upon with my palm.

My X2250 will not feed the single sheet of paper evenly. When looking at the printer from the front, the left side of the paper feeds faster than the right side. The result is a crooked feed that results in a paper jam. The machine is consistent and feeds the left side ahead of the right side every time.
Is this a problem with the rollers or the result of some piece of paper or foreign object lodged in the rollers? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Don

Hi,
I have the same problem, and am a bit stuck! Although I assumed exactly what you suggested (the spring) I can't get the blinkin' thing open to get to the springs! The manual doesn't say what I should be opening to gain access, do you have any other help you could offer?

Hi Viper,
Thanks for the tip. I'm having the same problem with my Xerox Workcentre 385.
I see the spring (both of them actually, one on each side), but I'm having trouble understanding what you mean by moving the spring to the end of the arm.
On my machine, the springs are attached to a metal hook ... which I can't seem to move ...
Any ideas would be great, as this is a real pain ... great machine ... but more or less useless if the feeder doesn't work. And haven't had much luck with Xerox support as the model is no longer in production.
Thanks in advance for any further advice.
