Tip & How-To about Yahoo Mail

How To Return To Classic Yahoo Mail...Permanently

Something strange happened while browsing at a cybercafe. I logged into yahoo mail on a windows XP system & was told my browser doesn't support the features of the new yahoo mail. Then I was given the option to return to classic mail temporarily or permanently. I chose the latter and right now I'm at home using yahoo mail classic. Here's the trick:
1. Get an old browser version of Internet explorer. The easiest way to do this is to get a copy of windows XP service pack 2 or 3 which comes with internet explorer 6. (the cafe I was in used this).

2. Install XP. You won't want to mess up your PC or laptop just for this so grab something old. You can also use Virtual-PC, VM-ware or any good desktop virtualization software. Do a clean install. Don't install anything else unless it helps you connect to the internet. Don't install flash player or any plugins yet.

3. Go online and log into your yahoo mail account. Yahoo will apologise and give you two options: (i) Return to classic yahoo for this session.....ignore this. (ii) Switch back to classic yahoo mail....second link, click this.

That's it guys...enjoy. I'm going to confirm this on other browsers as well.

Temporary error: 14

That's a temporary error as far as I can tell. Temporary errors can be caused by browsers that are not supported by Yahoo! Mail. Please ensure that you are using one of the following browsers and operating systems:

Windows XP, Vista, and 7:
  • Internet Explorer 8.0 and newer
  • Firefox version 3.5 and newer
  • Safari version 4.0 and newer
  • Google Chrome version 5 and newer
Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6:
  • Firefox version 3.5 and newer
  • Safari version 4.0 and newer
  • Google Chrome version 5 and newer

you can try these troubleshooting steps:
  1. Refresh your browser and retry accessing your Yahoo! Mail account. If this does not work, please proceed to next step.
  2. Log out of your Yahoo! Mail.
  3. Clear your internet browser's cache and cookies.
  4. Close or disable all other programs and browsers running Yahoo! Mail (for example, if you have your Mail open on your mobile phone, log out there.)
  5. Close and restart your web browser.
  6. Log on to your Yahoo! Mail.

The error, LaunchEmptyResponse

You are one of the many that has been affected by this downtime. Yahoo' s servers are currently down at the moment and they are already checking on thin. However, there is no turn around time for the fix just yet.

Thank you for using Fixya and have a great day!

I am getting this error and am not able to log into my yahoo The error, LaunchEmptyResponse, occurred when trying to connect to Yahoo! Mail.

If you are using Yahoo mail in your web browser, empty your browsers cache, close the browser and log in again to yahoo mail.
If you use the Yahoo Zimbra software then try completely removing the software in Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and installing it from their website fresh again. It usually fixes any strange things going on with that software. I had that a couple of times.
