IPod Touch built after 2006 contain an integrated liquid contact indicator senses the presence of water and is used to indicate when the device was damaged by water.

1. Find the headset at the top left of the iPod Touch.

2. Looking directly down the hole of the connection. Make sure you are in a well lit room to clearly see the hole. An amplifier this can be used for a better view of the headset.

Damaged hardware is responsible for the most obvious iPod sound problems.
In such cases, Apple may be able to help you fix the problem, depending on the status of your warranty.
All iPods have a one-year warranty according to Apple's website.
Software problems can also affect your audio.
For example, downloading a non-certified Apple application can stop your sound from working correctly.
Returning your iPod to its original factory settings fixes many of these software glitches.

Plug in a different set of headphones and test the sound.
If that set works, your old headphones were the cause of your audio problems.
If your iPod still doesn't work, proceed.
Remove an application on your iPod Touch if you installed it right before your sound stopped working.
Hold your finger over the top left corner of the application.
It will shake.
Touch the "X." Touch the "Home" button.
Restore your iPod to fix other potential software problems.
Open iTunes. Plug the iPod into your computer with a USB cord.
Click on your iPod on the left-hand menu.
The iPod will be listed under the name you assigned it when you first set it up.
Click the "Restore" button on the menu.
Leave the iPod alone while it restores.
It may take several minutes.
Test the sound once the restore is complete.
The iPod syncs after restoration.
Once the sync is complete, the process is over.
Contact the Apple Technical Support line at 1-800-275-2273 if your audio still doesn't work.

I have water damage to my Apple iPod Touch, I have a warranty, but I don't want to go through the process of them fixing it

Unfortunately, your warranty only covers factory defects. What you are looking for is Insurance on the device, which in turn, would cover water damage and other accidents.

I am afraid your Warranty will not cover the repairs or replacement of your iPod.

Sorry.

ipod touch got ran over need to repair or get new one. Have a 2 year service plan and i've had it for a year

Is you service plan from Apple or is it from a store like bestbuy? If it you only have apple care then they will not do anything for you, they only cover defects, and rarely even cover that. If you have a warranty from say bestbuy you will be able to bring it in and get a new one free of charge.

My 32G I-touch does not work at all. No power no

Plug the thing in for 6-8 hours to totally charge it.  Then try.  If nothing, congratulations cause you have put this thing into paper weight mode.  This means you dropped it or it got exposed to liquids.  Apple won't replace your ipod for either of these reasons.  If your just an unlucky bastard, and really got a defective item, then you can take it back to the Apple store for a free replacement if your under the one year warranty.
