How to UPGRADE and UNLOCK iPhone 3G/S 4.1 (05.14.02)

Upgrading Baseband Procedure:

BEFORE:

1.Download ipsw: 4.2.1 here http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ 2.Download Redsn0w win 0.9.6b here http://compixels.com/3291/download-redsn0w-0-9-6b5-for-windows-to-flash-iphone-3g-3gs-baseband-to-06-15-00
3.Open Redsn0w

4.browse ipsw 4.2.1 > Processing frimware...>NEXT

5.CHECK the ff: Take Note of the red circle

6.Press YES then NEXT and wait.(BE PATIENT WHEN iPAD BASEBAND IS FETCHING)

7.Done! Click Finish.... wait for the iphone to reboot

8.check the Baseband version in Settings> General> About. Modem Firmware 06.15

Unlocking Procedure:
1.Establish Wifi Connection
2.Go to Cydia> sources> edit> add> repo666.unltrasn0w.com
3.click install and iphone will reboot
FINISH PRODUCT:
WARNING - YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES OF UPDATING TO 06.15.

1. There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there's no hiding the baseband version from Apple. You'll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.
2. If some future baseband comes out with a critical fix, you won't be able to update to it if it remains down in the 05.xx sequence (then again, you wouldn't update to it if you wanted to keep your unlock anyway).
3. Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won't ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail). You'll need to only restore to custom IPSWs (then again, if you're unlocker you should already be doing that).

Certainly don't update to 06.15 if you don't need to! Only do this if you need the unlock and you're stuck on 05.14 or 05.15, and you're willing to assume the above risks.

UPDATE: For NO WIFI

Download ultrasn0w_1.2_iphoneos-arm.deb

you have no choice but to replace the ipsw(firmware) file on the iPhone. 1. download selected firmware from here http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ 2. go to iTunes and dock you iphone to the computer. 3. Holding "shift" key click on iPhone restore. it will open up a new window in which u will have to select "the .ipsw file u downloaded" 4. select it and click restore. 5. wait for everything to be done.

How can i downgrade my ipod touch firmware from 4.0 to 3.1.2 when i have the MC model?

Check out this site
http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
chose which firmware you want and download.
After downloading the desired firmware, you can shift-click (PC), or option-click (MAC), the Restore or Update buttons in iTunes. A file dialog will open and let you choose the downloaded ipsw-file.
Note: Your browser may change the ipsw-file into a zip file. In that case just rename it to end in .ipsw and iTunes will accept it.

firmware

It is the program that makes your iPod touch function the way it should. We update that using software updates from iTunes.

How do you get it? If you're talking about .IPSW files for updating your device, you can get it from this website:
