Tip & How-To about Dryers

Dryer - Tips for Cleaning Dryer Lint Trap!

Most people know where their lint trap is and most know or think they know how to clean them. BUT do you really know? For the people that use the fabric softner dryer sheets, they might find out that they still have not cleaned it properly. So if your dryer seems to take a longer and longer time to dry your clothes you might want to check this little tip out.

Remove your lint trap and clean it normally. Then take it to your sink and run water onto it. IF the water doesn't pass through it immediately you have a blockage! You can't see it, but your dryer sheet is leaving residue on the screen and slowly building up.

If there was any blockage, then you can use an old toothbrush to clean it. Just the toothbrush and water. To check to see how well you did run water and see if it passes through the screen immediately.

This will increase your dryer efficiency and you save a little energy in the process.

I have a kenmore elite model 110.8586 or 8587 anyway I cleaned my lent screen put it back as I always do after every load and know it say check lint screen

Possibilities

The sensor is dirty..remove the lint trap and clean the orifice with a Swiffer duster. Dryer sheets can clog the lint trap use a tooth brush and detergent to clean the lint trap. Alternately see if it presents the same issue operating it without the lint trap. If you have an air compressor blow out the slot too. Make sure the main exit hose is cleared also *vent duct*. Tip the unit and blow the air in too.

Or a melting type fuse mounts on the blower housing and is tied into the same circuit as the door switch. When it melts it shuts down everything and this keeps the lint from catching fire.

Also check the belts.

You can turn off the beeping if you would like. Instructions are in the manual. By Pressing the buzzer button it has Loud medium low and off positions.

Remove the rear vent and try the unit...

I'm thinking that your sensor is probably the issue here.

My calypso machine leave alot of lint on clothing

you have to clean the lint trap before every use. I assume that you know that. also , you need to clean the area where the lint trap is really good, so you dont have a dryer fire.

Same Problem.. not able to find the lint filter on EWD1477

Lou, thanks for your answer, but I think that the original question is to do with the 'mysterious lint trap' that is mentioned in the manual but isnt actually a part of the machine (ie, its a typo / incorrectly edited manual - copied from another model)

The thing we are trying to find is the lint trap for the condenser unit, which is not the same as the drain pump/filter/trap on the bottom right of the unit (or, at least, shouldn't be - if it existed).

I think this model has a specially designed condenser unit that somehow cleans itself from the action of the washing clothes (in your next run), and flushes the lint from any previous drying cycles away with the rinse water during the next wash.

To help keep things clean, you could try to dissolve or at least break up any gunk buildup inside your machine (likely if your not using the 95 degrees C wash temp setting) by using lots of concentrated bleach (at max temp). However, this could damage the machine, but in my experience it is OK. I am not a employee of electrolux nor am I a service person :)
