my dc 35 slim makes a whoowhoo noise and shuts off on its own

Hi Sharon, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson cordless vacuums, DC35's digital motor is engineered to make a pulsing noise to let you know if something is stopping airflow from passing through the machine. This could mean the pre-filter is overdue for a wash, or that there's a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet.

To check for and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc35/dc35-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-wand

In normal use, we recommend washing the pre-filter at least once a month as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it in the machine.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue and restore full performance to your machine. If you'd like some further guidance from our experts, you're welcome to give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Motor making a different sound

Hi Mary, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC35's motor is making a pulsating noise, this is likely to be caused by a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet. For help checking for and clearing any obstructions, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc35/dc35-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-wand

It's also important to wash the filter at least once a month, using cold water without detergent. This is shown in the video below. If your machine's filter hasn't been washed recently, please try this. Make sure the filter is completely dry before replacing it - it can help to place it in an airing cupboard or by a radiator for at least 24 hours.

If you'd like some further advice after you've given this a try, please call experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if your machine is within our 2-year guarantee period.

dyson dc23 animal

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC23 Animal. If the turbinehead doesn't seem to be working as well as usual, this may be due to a blockage. The filter may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual1/check-telescopic-wand-step-2

In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack
