Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet
I have come across a lot of questions related to missing Drivers/ Drivers CD, where users have not mentioned the Operating System and/ or Make/ Model of the motherboard/ PC etc. So, I have decided to write a few general points and Do-it-yourself steps about it.
Good news is that there is no need to worry. The up-to-date drivers for almost all devices, motherboards, printers etc. can be downloaded from the manufacturer's support site for free. E.g. www.intel.com, www.hp.com, etc.
DRIVERS SEARCH & DOWNLOAD
Note that the device drivers are specific to Operating System. For instance, if you wish to install a printer, you have to know the make/ model of the printer and the Operating System you have on your PC. Next step is to visit the manufacturer's site and search for the required drivers and downloading the driver file.
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
After downloading the drivers, you have to run the setup file and follow the on-screen instruction to install the device.
OPERATING SYSTEM RE-INSTALL/ UPGRADE
Before re-installing or upgrading the Operating System, make sure that you have the drivers for the PC/Motherboard, Printer, scanner etc. for the Operating System you wish to install.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!
