Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Forgot my password, forgot password, lost password, reset password

It happens to the best of us. We forget our passwords for certain websites or just can't seem to "type" it in right. I have even used the, "I know I am typing it right" excuse. This article will explain how to find or reset your password.

The majority of websites provide easy methods to obtain your password if you have trouble logging in. Usually, on the log in page there will be a "forgot password" or "forgot username" link you can click on. They may ask you a series of security questions or for your email address. Once you enter the required information some websites will display the password right there on the site for you to see, or may send you an email address with the password or even with instructions to reset it.

If you are playing a game and forgot your password the same usually applies. Sometimes, within the game client itself you can reset or view your password if you forgot it.

I always recommend keeping an excel spreadsheet with all of your website/software usernames and passwords (encrypted) for easy access in case you forget your credentials.

Make sure your password is not easily guessed. Using your name is bad or any other basic dictionary word. Use a combination of letters, numbers and characters. For example, #384dt@!L The more diverse, the harder it is to be broken.

If you forgot the password to your computer login, this is usually harder to fix. There is no built in "forgot password" option in Windows. In the newer versions of Windows you can leave "hints" on the log in screen to help jog your memory. In some older versions of Windows, there is software you can find using a google search that will help you reset or retrieve the password through DOS command prompt. This is to much to explain in this article but there are already articles out there you can find doing a search online! A easy way around a forgotten computer password issue is to reinstall Windows, however, be warned you most likely will lose any files/settings that are not backed up. Some will find this option quicker and less of a hassle(outside of losing your files and settings).

Your password could not be reset. * You have reached the limit of password reset attempts. If you are still having trouble accessing your account, please contact us for assistance.

Hey there! Seems somebody has been messing around with your FaceBook account! I suggest you should stop entering your password, and contact FaceBook right away.
This happens to a lot of people everyday, it could be a virus, or anything else. Maybe somebody that stalks you a lot gathered information about you and hacked in.
As I said, you should contact FB as fast as you can, especially if you have private information in there. They could change your registration very easily, the name, the D.O.B. passwords, secret questions, etc. They'll make it their account, not yours.
So I wish you the best of luck. Let me know what happens! I hope that I helped you & that this post helps you at most! Don't forget to rate! =) marinora_45.jpeg

i don't know how to log on

for what website? all websites that require to log on have a user name and password box on the main page. you just need to type in your username and password in the right boxes, then click the "log in""sign-in" or "submit" button beside it. if you do not have an account with a certain website try looking for a "sign up" link on that page some place.
