Tip & How-To about Video Game Consoles & Games

Determining why a cd/game will not work.

Many people wonder why their games or cd's stopped working or only work with certain devices but there are many common and simple problems to understand that can go wrong with cd's and games.
1. Make sure you have the right device to play the cd/game. Meaning if its a cd it can't be played in a game player. If its a game then you have to have the right game playing device, for example wii games to the wii, computer games can only be in the computer.
2. Even though they may fit into another device it may not work with that device, but some devices are formatted for multiple disc. But many game consoles only allow that game to work, not cd's or dvd' s. And some dvd players allow cd's to work but not games.
3. If you have the proper device and equipment to use it then make sure you are putting it in right. By flipping the cd both ways if not working, with the artwork upside or on the bottom. Or even the to the right or left when putting it in.
4. Then if the cd will still not work, check for scratches or smudges on the cd because that wear and tear can make a cd not function properly. If there are scratches then you can get a scratch kit. Just check out this link for an example.
5. If none of this works then the cd/game may be defective, but usually not the case.

Cd/Dvd burner stopped working on my laptop

It could be that the burner has gone out in the drive, this is a common problem. Before you go and replace the drive, it could just be a simple driver glitch, try uninstalling the drivers for the CD drive from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the drive and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work then you can replace the drive.

DVD-RW not working

Hi, in my experiance 99 times out of 100, it's the CD/DVD gone kaput! sorry... they seem to be rather delicate devices and fail for often NO apperant reason. I suggest ya take it to a reputable "PC Guy" Get a FIRM QUOTE, and replace the unit. If ya tech savy then buy a new unit and replace it, it is REAL simple to do so ya self, usually the sorta "Plug In" I bet that solves ya problem.. :)

ps2 - stops reading disc

there is a little wheel type thing that the cd sits on when it goes into the drive, the wheel makes the cd spin, these often wear out , after you play it for 27 mins the device heats up which causes it to slip , which would most likely be the noise that you can hear , it wont cost you much at all to get this fixed at a game console service store, if your sure the cd is still spinning after 27 mins , and making the noise , it is the laser cog slipping , in this case it is best to replace the whole laser section, which is one part , and if your handy at things like that i suggest you just go and buy the laser reader from a game console repair store , and swap it over your self , it is pritty simple to do ,
