Tip & How-To about Nintendo Wii Console

Nintendo Wii Error Code 51031 This error code means that the wireless network within range is not configured or is not compatible with your Nintendo Wii. -Make sure the router you are using is compatible. You can see a list of compatible routers by clicking here -Make sure the SSID(network name) you enter into the Wii settings matches the SSID of your router. This includes making sure capitalization, spaces, or special characters match exactly. You can log in to your router by going to the gateway address of the router(usually 192.168.1.1 and type this into your internet browser), and going into the wireless settings section. Check what the SSID is. This is what you should set on the WII. You can view my tech article on connecting and changing Wii network settings by clicking here -In your home network, your router may not be assigning an IP address to your Wii console. Power cycle the equipment. Turn off all devices(modem, router and Wii). After 10 seconds turn on the modem, after 30 seconds turn on the router and after 30 seconds turn on the Wii. Try to connect online. If you are not using DCHP but instead have your home network setup to assign a IP address manually, you will need to setup the Wii with the IP/DNS addresses. You can set your manual settings in the Wii network settings menu. See the link above to my tech article. -Your router firmware may need to be upgraded. Visit your router manufacturers website and see if any updates are available. If after all the above steps you are still having trouble, you may want to reach out to Nintendo Technical Support at 800-255-3700 I hope this article was informative! -G33k KeywordsNintendo Wii Error Code 51031, Error Code 51031, Wii 51031

trouble connecting to internet says error code 51032 it says it cannot find access server I have checked my ssid and shared key and they are correct

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your internet on your wii. According to Nintendo, error code 51032 is:
"Error Code: 51032

The only wireless network within range of your Wii console is not configured or is not compatible with the Wii."

This means there is either some interference with your wireless signal or your router is simply too far away from the wii. You can try to move the wii closer to the router (or router closer to the wii) or try a different wireless channel on your router.

You can see here for nintendo's official solutions to this problem:

Error Code: 51031
The only wireless network within range of your Wii console is not configured or is not compatible with the Wii.
  • Check for interference that may be preventing a successful connection. Click here for tips.

  • Check to see if the router you are using is a known to be incompatible. Click here to view our list. If your router is known to be incompatible, we recommend using a different router if possible.

  • Make sure that the SSID (network name) matches exactly to what you have entered in the Wii console's settings. To verify:
    1. Login to your router's settings (click here and select your router, if available, for information).
    2. Look for the section for SSID (typically in the "wireless settings" area).
    3. After you find the SSID (network name), verify in the manual settings of the Wii console that the SSID appears exactly as listed in the consumer's router. This includes making sure capitalization, spaces, or special characters match exactly.

  • Look up your router, if available, in our list of wireless routers, and check for any special notes that may be necesary to get the connection to work properly.

  • The router may not be assigning an IP address to the Wii console, and a connection using the "Manual Settings" may be necessary. Click here for help.

  • Your router may require a firmware update to work properly with the Wii console. Firmware updates can usually be found on the router manufactruer's website; consult the manufacturer for more information.
