Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Ram errors, OS install errors, BSOD

These can all be cause my corrupt ram to tell if your ram is corrupt download

memtest from memtest86.com you want the bootable cd image file

burn this file onto a cd and then boot your computer from cd either setting
cd drive as first boot device in BIOS or hitting f12 as computer boots and in the quick boot menu selecting the cd drive

when the memtest program boots up start the memory test

if the test fails the corresponding ram module will need to be replaced

hopefully this helps

i have added a 2 gigabyte ram to my newly bought laptop and when i want to install windows xp it gives the blue screen

Does it give the blue screen with the old ram memory?. You can go to http://www.memtest86.com/. Memtest 86 is free software to test the memory RAM of your computer. You will have to download the .iso file, burn it in a cd, and reboot. This is the only way to test the memory ram to stay 100% sure that it's not corrupted. If it's not corrupted, then check the ram memory specs speed, and latency. They must have the same speed and equal latency-or better- than the older ones.

set up problems

Unfortunately you'll need that CD to fix the issue, the only alternative is a lengthy process through the command prompt, which isn't even a guarantee. The reason you need the CD is so that you can restore your boot files with a fresh copy, as yours have become corrupted. Replacing the corrupted files is the only option.

Not easy to say what it caused it, but if its bad the problem will be solved whit replacing it.

To be sure you can always run a memtest, download the program version from the site below, burnt it on a cd, reboot from your cd-driver and let memtest check your memorysticks.
