Tip & How-To about Durabrand PDV-709
Firstly, thanks to Bubbabear64 for clarifying the Durabrand production fiasco and for his suggestions. After trying the 1 -800 number on the back of the DVD player (which is out of order as the company is defunct), I called 1-800-925-6278, a Walmart Corporate number. My concern was recorded and that same evening, I received a phone call from the GM of the Walmart where I had purchased the DVD player. He was more than willing to rectify this problem and without hesitation offered me a full refund of the purchase price. He was pleasant and made sure I was satisfied. In retrospect, I don't think it is necessary to phone the Walmart headquarters as I did. I'm sure every Walmart manager is aware of this problem with Durabrand and will offer a refund in lieu of the non-existent manufacturer's one year warranty. Certainly, Walmart should have been more forthcoming in dealing with a problem they knew existed long before the consumer did. However, my advice is to call the GM of your Walmart first and give him or her a chance to help you. They do want to keep your business!
