Tip & How-To about Google Chrome

View XML Files in Chrome

What to do when trying to view XML File formats in Google Chrome.
While Google Chrome is a great browser it is too new to have everything users want. An incredibly popular file format, mainly for programmers, is XML, which is not handled natively by Chrome... not sure why.
A simple solution to this problem is to load a great Chrome Extension called 'XML Tree.' So next time you go to view an XML in Chrome the browser will read and display it all nice and pretty for you. To install follow the link below, install the extension, and then that's it. You are now read to view XML files in Chrome.

I recently unitstalled google chrome and then reinstalled. Now what I get is a malware (binkiland) attached to google chrome every time I try to download it. How do I get a clean version of google chrone?

Get Google Chrome from this link:
https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html

Unless your PC is infected with something that corrupts the downloaded file, this is direct from Google and should install cleanly.

Warning: If your previous installation of Google Chrome was infected it would be wise to not only uninstall it, but also delete the Google directory under C:\"Program Files (x86)" AND the Google folders for every user on your PC in the C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Local folder. (You will have to turn on the view hidden files option to see the AppData folders under the users).

Once you have deleted all of those Google folders, you will get a clean install from the downloaded installer in the link above.

How can I transfer my bookmarks to a new computer?

The simplest method to transfer bookmarks between computers is by "signing in" to Chrome on the first computer. All of your Chrome browser data and preferences (including bookmarks) will be saved into your Google account, and that will be available whenever you sign in again on any other computer.

Here's how to sign in: In the Chrome web browser, click on the wrench icon (upper right corner), then select "Sign in to Chrome".

Then enter your Google account user name and password.

All of your Chrome bookmarks, extensions and other preferences will then be saved into your Google account online.

Then on your new computer, install the Chrome browser, and again "sign on" with the same Google account. Your Chrome bookmarks, extensions and other preferences will be retrieved from your Google account.

Alternatively, you can export your bookmarks from the Chrome browser on the old computer. Click on the wrench icon, select "Bookmark manager"; then select Organize > Export bookmarks. That will generate an HTML file. Copy that file to the new computer (e.g., by using a flash drive). Then on the new computer, install the Chrome browser, select "Bookmark manager"; then select Organize > Import bookmarks.

Hope that's helpful.

Can't reply to emails or create a new message

Yes, Google Chrome is having troubles when accessing Hotmail and Yahoomail.I got same problem a couple of days ago. Check these steps first:
  • Update to latest version Chrome 1.0.154.46(updated espcially for this bug fixing, means for you :>) )
  • Clear all your browsing history/cookies/cache.
  • Try reinstalling your browser if above step doesnt make it.
  • check all troubleshooting guides listed at GChrome.
As for me, now, everything seems to be fine.
