Tip & How-To about Office Equipment & Supplies

HP M3035 growling or grinding noise

Update as of August 9, 2011.

This service advisory has been extended beyond the expiry date listed below.

If you have an HP M3035 printer that is very noisy either with a growling sound or grinding sound coming from the back, you might qualify for a free repair on this product. HP has had problems with the fusers on this product failing prematurely and as such offer a replacement fuser to clients who own this product. To qualify your product must meet the following requirements:

  • page count must be less than 150,000
  • Serial number must fall within the service range, which HP can verify on the phone, however I have not had a unit yet that was not covered.
That is it, date of purchase is not a factor to obtain a free repair for your product. Simply call HP at 1-800 HPINVENT and ask them to issue a case number and provide you with a local repair depot contact. Do not delay on this as the current service advisory is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2011.

Error code 5 printer will not work on net work

Error code 5 is a failed scanner. This failure is covered by an extended service advisory, which means they will replace the scanner at no charge to you as long as your printer was manufactured before January 1, 2010. You can look on the back of the printer at the serial number plate for the date of manufacture. Contact HP at 1-800 HPINVENT

On my HP M1522 which i only use the photcopying function I have to keep turning it on and off to get the copier to work each time.

If your 1522 keeps freezing up, then it is likely that the formatter board is failing. Any M1522 manufactured before January 1, 2010 is covered by an extended service advisory, which means HP will replace your defective formatter. Check the serial number sticker on the back of the unit for the date of manufacture and if it is older than the date indicated above, contact HP and ask them to fix it for you. Or you can locate a local HP service partner who can do the work for you.
