If you have an HP M1522 and you are getting any of the following:
- no display on control panel
- Unit freezes on start with "Initializing" or just arrows in display
- Printer will not power on at all or shuts off intermittently
- Unit stops functioning, appears frozen and control panel does not respond
There is a good chance that your formatter is bad but there is hope for you.
Check the back of your product for the sticker with the serial number on it. Also on that sticker is the date of manufacture. If your machine was manufactured before January 1, 2010, then HP has a service advisory that addresses this issue. A service advisory is an admission by HP that the product does not meet expected standards and as such they offer a free repair of the machine, regardless of the warranty status of the product. HP will replace the formatter on your machine and it will not cost you a dime. You simply need to contact HP at 1-800 HPINVENT. This service advisory is valid until December 31, 2011.
