Tip & How-To about Kitchen Ranges
We had this display failure twice within the last 2 years on our 6 year old rbd305pds14 range. The display went blank, but all other button functions (light, beeps etc) remained operational.
Each time I turned off the main breaker power for about 5 minutes.
While power is off, I also (lightly) pressed and held each button on the panel for about 2 seconds - This was to further eliminate residual power due to capacitance/inductance effects that might be retained in sub-components in the circuit. (This might not be necessary, but my electronics maintenance training had us do this when the circuit is not well known - and it gives you something to do during the 5 minutes!)
Both times this has worked. So far I have not needed to access the control panel and re-seat the ribbon cable.
Note, Following the manual's advice of turning off the breaker for 30-60 seconds did NOT work, which tells me there likely is some C/I effect in the circuit, (possibly due to a subtle ground loop??, but that is for an electrical engineer to determine.)
Sincerely hope this helps you.
