Tip & How-To about Haier HWR24VCB 23.6K RAC w/ remote Air Conditioner

If your Haeir window A/C unit is spitting water

I got this tip from this site yesterday when my Haeir A/C window unit began spitting water. Look for either a hole on the bottom edge of unit or a horizontal **** on bottom of unit it will either be in the front or back, take a toothpick or if your A/C is in a window unit and your target is on outside, take a long broom, bristle end up and brush out between window ledge and unit, any dirt that may have collected there. This will unclog the hole(s). You should also try to drain any water collected, out of unit. Turn A/C back on, it may do the same thing for about 15 minutes, but the problem should go away. Remember, you may not be actually able to see the hole or ****, but IT IS THERE. Make sure you brush it as thoroughly as you can. It worked for me. Thanks FixYa!!!

I had the same problem with a window a/c.
I drilled a hole on the outside on the bottom portion of the a/c unit (taking care not to damage any inside part).
The water began to flow and I have not had any problems since.
Tip: make sure to check the new opening at the beginning to the warm season.

water in air conditioner

A lot of the newer window units design the outside fan to pickup the condensate water and sling it onto the coil. The evaporative effect makes the unit run more efficiently. They ususally don't spit, but if the unit is running well, otherwise, I would't worry about it.

Haier Air Conditioners do not have a drain hole or hose like most A/Cs. This problem can easily be solved by carefully drililng about an 1/8 or 1/4 inch hole in the bottom outside edge directly on the metal frame, around the cooling fins.... This will elt the water drain out...if you when outside and looked in while it was spitting you would see the water pooling up in there. Haier expects us to mount these units at an ungodly angle to drain the water, but drilling a small hole will help (really anywhere in that bottom plate would work since the whole bottom is a "drain pan"

window unit spitting water

Check to make sure the drain holes are free from debris. The drain pan not draining causes the spitting and the fan is blowing out the water. Using a metal rod or hanger, gently clear all holes in the bottom of the unit. Prepare to get wet!
