Tip & How-To about Vacuums

HOW TO SPOT CLEAN A CARPET I have a "furry family" of a dog and 2 cats who I love dearly. Unfortunately, my carpet has suffered from several "accidents" and "upset tummies". It is a challenge to find an effective cleaner that cleans the stain, reduces the odor in the carpet, and is reasonably priced. In the past, I have tried commercial products that were both expensive and ineffective. I have also used vinegar mixed with water and, although it was effective, it did not achieve the results that I would have liked. So one day, I decided to mix a little scented fabric softener in with the vinegar and water and VOILA what a difference! It removed the stain and left the carpet soft and smelling fresh. It has become my preferred method of dealing with pet stains on the carpet. If you decide to give this a try, be sure to test this solution on an inconspicuous place on your carpet to be sure it does not discolor or lighten it. So far, I have had only good results from its use. To Spot Clean a small area: Fill an empty clean spray bottle with equal parts of water and vinegar. Then add a capful of scented fabric softener to the bottle. Shake it up for 30 seconds. Spray the stained area Let it sit for 2 minutes and then spray a little more on it. Rub the stain with a dry cloth until it disappears. The vinegar odor will fade as it dries and helps to remove the foul smell Let it dry and you will notice a nice fresh smell and your carpet will be soft. Once you vacuum, you will have a hard time telling where the stain was. I have actually used the mixture above in my Bissell Carpet Cleaning machine with good results. It is much less expensive than commercial carpet cleaning solutions. Be sure to read your machine manual or contact the manufacturer to make sure it does not affect its operation. So far my machine is tolerating it well. This is a personal tip that I just wanted to share with others. I hope you find it useful.

I bought Roomba 560 robot vacuum cleaner about 3 weeks ago and it has been cleaned without problem all kind of positions of floors (also carpets) Last friday I anyway mountained nearby of outcoming door the black carpet. Now the situation is that Roomba doesn't move and clean above of this carpet. What is the reason and how to solve it ... ?.

Roomba won't clean black carpet because it interprets it as a cliff. The sensors under the bumper tell the Roomba that it's about to fall down the stairs and it backs away. Unfortunately, because they're a safety feature, they can't be shut off.

Ok in the future try to have carpet cleaned only by a pro. For spot cleaning use white paper towels or dish towels and warm water. (ONLY WHITE) 99% of fabric is white and then dyed to color and if you use a color cloth you might pull the dye from the cloth into the carpet. Now what you can try is your basic dishwashing detergent like electrosal with warm water and a dishtowel. little at a time try to blot not rub. try AFTA if that doesnt work. wet the rag first with warm water. pour the afta on the wet rag not on the carpet.
