How To Find Your Radio/Stereo Unlock Code

As a security feature, the Radio or Stereo Unlock Code is meant to prevent another person from using the Stock Stereo from your vehicle without proof of ownership of the vehicle. To obtain the Unlock Code for your Radio or Stereo, you will need the title, VIN, proof of insurance, etc. to prove that you own the vehicle or are authorized to Unlock the Stereo using the factory generated code. At the dealership, this should always be a free service, but some dealerships may charge to generate or lookup the Stereo Unlock Code.

When you have your Radio Unlock Code, use the Preset Keys to input this code into your Stereo. You should hear a Beep when this code has been entered, this is an Unlock Confirmation. To retrieve your code, try the following suggestions:

  1. If you have your Service or Owners manual, usually in the Glove compartment, look for the Radio Security Code in there. Usually it is on a White, Credit Card looking card, in the Manual.
  2. You can also check on the Sides of the Glove box, inside and outside, for the Radio Code. It may be on a Sticker. Sometimes you can also find the Code under the Ash tray, on or around the Door Jamb on the door, or on the vehicle, and in the Trunk, or on the bottom of the Trunk Lid.
  3. You can also use your VIN in many cases by calling the Dealer Service Department, and they can lookup the Radio Code using the VIN.
  4. If all else fails, you will have to remove the Stereo to gain access to the Serial Number. Write this number down and contact your Local Dealership to retrieve the Unlock Code for your Stereo. There is no charge for this.

My battery went flat and I jump started my car (Holden VT) now my stereo is locked. Dose anybody know how to unlock it. It's a eurovox radio unit.

Samantha, You need the VIN and the radio serial number. Take those into a Holden dealer to get the radio code and programming instructions from the dealer. They may want a small fee for the #. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

After AAA replaced the vehicle battery, my car stereo stopped working. The only indication the stereo is still powered is the treble, bass, and balance slide knobs are blinking. I assume there is a "lock out" feature to prevent theft but.....how do reset the stereo so it will work again?

go to your vehicle owners manual for reset radio code. if it's a stock radio or stereo system the code will be there.or there is a site on fixya.com for reset radio code.you will need to spend about $2.00 to get the code however.thank you for choosing fixya.com

2001 stereo code.

The stereo's ESN Feature has activated. High-end Eclipse stereo's have a feature to prevent theft where if the battery is disconnected from the stereo, it must be "unlocked" with a "key" CD, that comes with the CD player but can later be changed to a personal CD of the owner. You would need to either call Eclipse and see if they can de-activate it (you'll need to ship it to them, if they even do it, because it is a security feature after all.) Or you need to talk to the last owner of the vehicle and have them unlock it.
