Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

How to use Fixya From Your Blackberry

Being an expert on fixya I found that I like to check new questions on a regular basis but don't always be in front of my PC. While trying to use it on my BB i realized it just didn't work. well that was until I discovered a nifty little trick.

you will need

1.) a blackberry (obviously)
2.) a Free web browser called opera mini
3.) another free browser called BOLT

OK to pull this off we need to trick out blackberry into keeping packets alive. so do this,

1.) install both opera mini and bolt to your blackberry
2.) execute opera mini
3.) go to fixya and select Sign In , enter your user name and password, select remember your user name and password (remember me)
4.) it will fail but that's OK, leave opera mini open and start bolt
5.) go to fixya and repeat step 3 using bolt instead of opera mini
6.) it will fail
7.) close opera mini, then close bolt
8.) open bolt and browse to fixya again
9.) click Sign In you will see your user name and password already there , click remember me to make sure its on and click Sign In .

You will now be logged into Fixya.

this trick also works with online banking. however I don't recommend it.

What is the difference between adding "FixYa Web Site" as the product, as opposed to "FixYa FixYa Service"?

"FixYa Service" is the correct product to add. The FixYa support team checks this often. It is also always best to select a specific product when possible.
When asking a question, it is possible to either:
  • A) Select a product on FixYa from the drop down list (ensuring the question is delivered to the appropriate category of Experts and gets associated with the correct product).
  • B) Enter Free Text if the specific product can not be found (the more descriptive your question details the easier it will be for FixYa to send your question to the right Experts)
  • C) Select a category if the specific product can not be found.
FixYa Service is the product. All other variations are simply free text which will likely be directed to the Website category.
  • Remember, if suggested solutions are not accurate, be sure to click "No" where it asks if the solution was helpful. On the other hand, if they are helpful, click "Yes!"

How do we get paid by Fixya for answering questions?

Hi achintya1915, welcome to FixYa. While you can earn some money as a regular Expert by answering Marketplace Questions (see below for more info), you will have to get approved as a Premium Expert in order to access the vast majority of our paying questions. I see that you have already applied to be a Premium Expert. While you are waiting, you should review our criteria for Premium Experts- http://www.fixya.com/support/r2607184-fixya_looks_in_premium_expert. Make sure that all your recent solutions meet those criteria. As for what you are currently seeing, those are Marketplace Questions. They indicate questions where the asker has indicated their willingness to pay for a successful solution, but have not actually submitted payment. They are a good way to try out providing Premium-level support, but do not represent the bulk of the paying questions on FixYa. Please feel free to contact our Support Team directly at: http://www.fixya.com/contact

Laptop intermittently charges / works

Seems the power board is defective, you need to take this laptop to a service center to check for a new power board or if diy check ebay, you can find a good one there.
