Disable/Enable Hibernation in Windows

To make hibernation unavailable, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
  2. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
  3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
  4. At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off, and then press ENTER.
  5. Type exit and then press ENTER to close the Command Prompt window.
To make hibernation available, follow these steps:

my asus m50vc don't hibernate with win 7


You could either be out of room, meaning you have less Hard Drive space than RAM you have. Or hibernation could be disabled. You can re-enable it through Control Panel - Power Settings.

When I close the lid on my Toshiba X205S9800 laptop and reopen the lid, the screen is black. The computer is on and running as I left it, but there is no picture. I have had this problem for quite sometime and Ive checked every nook and cranny but have yet to find an answer to my problem! Please help!


when you close the lid your toshiba goes into hibernate mode. to disable this perform the following.
Note: you must have administrator priviledges to be able to perform this.
