Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

Never Ask Again! Keep All your friends WiFi Passwords Backed up Wireless online

One thing that drives me nuts is having to ask for the WiFi P.W. at peoples house because my iPhone lost it or whatever the case. Then having to type it in, hoping you got it right, as its a zillion characters long..DRAMA!!

Use one of the Top Free email providers ie: Google, Yahoo, Hotmail.
I use Gmail as a Microsoft exchange account in my iPhone and enable notes. Yahoo is by far the easiest to setup as it requires no special setup to enable notes, the choice is yours, I prefer Gmail.
That being said, make a new Note in your iPhone, iPad...(ex)-WiFi PWs
Now if something happens to your iPhone, you had to restore it or whtevr ALL your WiFi PWs will ALWAYS be in your notes as soon as you add your email account on your iDevice and turn on notes. then all you have to do is copy and paste the WiFi PWs when you need them, no more trying to type in some super long generated code that your not sure is right anyway because you cannot see the characters being typed.

I visit a lot of friends throughout each month, most all have WiFi and I like to use it whenever I can with my iPhones, iPad..ect.. For faster web (obvious) but also battery life is always greatly improved as the (cell)phone has less work to do with WiFi handling most all data.
Hope it helps!

SIDE NOTE!! This is also a great way to backup your contacts online (Gmail as Microsoft exchange) and never have to worry about losing an important name/number/email address ever again!

Might need more info regarding your network setup on that one but I did come across an iphone or two that wouldnt connect to a wifi because the SSID was using _nomap, probably not the case in your situation though.

sky wifi works near computer but not downstairs

I take it is you only have the mac downstairs or is it the case that the mac does not work and another computer does. The only thing from reading some stuff on forums is that sky wifi does not have a good reputation when it comes to range, a lot of people say that they have the same problem. If it is not the latest wifi from sky contact them and tell them you have a problem and ask them to replace it.

The other thing that can affect range is whether your house has thick walls and floors. Do you also have anything else that may be pumping out a signal e.g. a cordless phone this could affect the wireless signal.

Cannot get 2wire to work on my iphone! :(

Try this one:

>on ur WIFI networks, click "other..."
>then manually type in ur network name (if its set to default, it should be 2WIRE and the last 3 digits of ur SN. It is case sensitive so type the name exactly how it looks like.)
>make sure that the setting is set to WEP
>on the password box, enter a dollar sign/$ first and then the 10 digit code under ur 2wire

keep me posted on this one

iPhone EDGE issue

Access to edge or other data services depend on the isp, not the cell phone manufacturer. For example, if you unlocked your phone and put a tmobile sim in it, you would have to get data settings from tmobile to be able to get the internet. You need to talk to the tech support people. And of course you can use the wifi on the apple phone for internet access.
