Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Editing DNS Records with GoDaddy For Your Kajabi Account

Note: GoDaddy is used as an example how to edit DNS Records because their user interface is easy to work with. As each provider has a different way of doing this, you may need to contact their support center specially if you are not comfortable editing DNS Records. Just show this article to them and they should be able to figure it out.

Before anything else...

  • A Host Record is used to map the domain name to the IP address of the host that serves your website.
  • CNAME Record is an alias of another address (www.example.com is an alias of example.kajabi.com).
Let us continue...
For using a Custom Domain name with your Kajabi account, only two steps are needed for this to work.
  • Step 1: On your end (this is done at your domain provider/registrar). (3) A Host Records that points to our IP addresses (75.101.145.87, 75.101.163.44 and 174.129.212.2) and (1) CNAME Record for 'www' that points to your Kajabi site (example.kajabi.com) must be created. Details found here.
  • Step 2: On our end configuration is automatic after adding your domain (www.example.com) in the Custom Domain field under the Project Settings tab.

Wait! I already have an existing site.

The following guide below is provided for those who ONLY want to add their Kajabi site as a Sub-Domain to an existing site.

  • Step 1: On your end (this is done at your domain provider/registrar). Create a CNAME Record (ex: 'members', 'portal', etc.) and point it to your Kajabi site (example.kajabi.com). Details found here.
  • Step 2: On our end configuration is automatic after adding your domain (members.example.com) in the Custom Domain field under the Project Settings tab.

Mac OS X v10.5 or later:
  1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. From the View menu, choose Network.
  3. Click the interface you use to connect to the Internet, such as AirPort or Built-in Ethernet.
  4. If you use Built-in Ethernet: Type your DNS address(es) in the DNS Server field. If you have more than one, separate them with a comma.
If you use AirPort, click Advanced, then click the DNS tab. For each server, click the "+" button under DNS Servers and enter the address provided by your ISP or network admin. Click OK when done.
  5. Click Apply.
Mac OS X v10.4 or earlier:

  2. From the View menu, choose Network.
  3. From the Show menu, choose the interface you use to connect to the Internet.
  4. Click the TCP/IP tab.
  5. Type your DNS address in the Domain Name Servers field. If you have more than one, press Return at the end of each to put the next address on a new line.
  6. Click Apply Now.

Changing networks
You may experience a delay with the first connection after changing networks on a portable Mac. For example, you might use a MacBook at home with Wi-Fi, then take it to work or school and use an Ethernet connection. By default, Mac OS X uses one set of Internet preferences (known as a "location") named Automatic that will search your computer's modem, Ethernet, and AirPort interfaces until it finds the one that is connected to the Internet. You may experience a delay while your computer determines which network it is on. This can be easily differentiated from a DNS issue by creating a location that only contains one network interface. For more information, see Using network locations in Mac OS X.
If issues continue after trying the above steps, consider removing any manually-entered DNS addresses from the Network preferences pane. Select the address, then click the minus ("-") button. Note that dimmed addresses cannot be removed.

configure A-records

Transfer your domain name to Godaddy. Then, once the transfer is complete (and Godaddy customer service will gladly walk you through this process), properly set the A records to Weebly. Done! :) Domain transfers may take up to 7 days.

i have two user on my computer but on one i can get on the internet and on the other i cant it says change the proxy setting

every user created on the OS will have to have different settings.....

before making changes...get the foll info from your internet service provider
IP Address, Subnet mask, Default Gateway, DNS server address both primary and secondary

once that's available.....

you can use different settings in in WinXP as below....

Control panel / Network Connection /Local Area Conn /Right click / properties/ Internet Protocol TCP IP / Check Box / Propertis / in IP address use the IP address that's been assigned by your internet service provider

log in to first user accunt and make the settings....for....
IP Address, Subnet mask, Default Gateway, DNS server address both primary and secondary
use the info obtained from the service provider.....
....then
in the IP address filed use some thing similar like this..(check your internet service provider for that info).....the foll is only an example from my PC
say....192.168.1.2 for user ONE

log out....
shut down and restart PC
log in to second user accunt and make the settings....for all the above fileds....then
in the IP address filed use 192.168.1.4 for user TWO....(note the difference of the last filed of the IP address....2 vs 4)...every new user a/c the last field of IP address keeps changing

1st user ....say 192.168.1.2
2nd user .........192.168.1.4
3rd user ..........192.168.1.6
etc...
