Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Fraud & You!

You know if you have a bank account you will notice this https:// all credible sites that deal with security credentials have these. Now not all of them do but are legit if you see something you are wanting all you need to see is a secure Vera sign link this lets you know that it is good to use.

Especially at the checkout this is just another form that these companies are locked into in order to have a shopping cart for their customers. Never buy anything from overseas or from anywhere where the page looks non professional look at the spelling especially in an ad email or on a web site this is a tell sign there are lots of signs that can tell you it is a fraudulent site.

It is always good to check the number and call the company first before a purchase. Also it is really best to have a PalPal account as well instead of direct from your personal credit cards or e checks is also good as well as other sites that provide methods of payment. I personally never give out credit card information unless it is with this listed above. Always read documentation on the sellers reputation if the site does not have one then forget it.

This is the method of payment for the future which will be required for sellers to offer their buyers to purchase products from any web site. Thought I would throw this in as well. Pass that along the email world.

Stay away from advertisements with posters ad that is gmail or yahoo or any other free email program especially if UK is also used as an extension. "EXAMPLE" johndoe@yahoo.uk.com do not send money in for what they claim as a lottery winning to have a person come and deliver the winning package to you. They will want large sums of money to get you to think you will be making a transaction to collect a lottery winning I have investigated these and they are fraudulent and do not exist. So anything that does not look professional or is from the UK especially watch out for.

The woman Valerie who is head of Homeland Security. Background please.

She is NOT the head of HLS. She is a Chicago crony of Obama's and got a job probably because he owed her a favor after getting elected. She has no credible credentials for the position she holds.

On the site from your bank?
You should ask your bank how to check your balance, and how to setup a bank account. Also make sure you know how you make a secure connection with your bank, with a HTTPS connection. Always check the URL when banking.

Review your account balances, pay bills and order checks with the click of a button.

Make sure your current bank offers online banking.
If not, open a checking account with a bank that offers an online banking service.

Check to ensure that your computer hardware and software meet the bank's minimum requirements.

Sign up for online banking via the bank's Web site or at your local branch office.
You will need to provide basic, personal information.

Have your bank account numbers handy as well.

Log on to your account through your bank's Web site using the customer number and/or password assigned to you by your bank.

Run the demonstration program that most banks offer through their Web sites.
The demonstration will take you step by step through all of the online banking features available to you.
You first need to contact your bank and set up an online banking system then they will either send you all log in details by email or over the counter.

IE: BSB Number and Account Number you will have to make a Log In Password either at the Bank or online depending on your Banks rules.

When you get to the online login i suggest you make Word documents of Login Password

this is typically a security question for banks or accounts holding personal information. If you can't remember your details you will have to contact the web site owners and supply alternative credentials to satisfy their security questions

What is the Vault ID?

Hi,

ID Vault (Vault ID) provides complete protection against identity theft and fraud for your online accounts. It encrypts your passwords, usernames and credit card information securely on your PC. ID Vault logs you in without typing so you don't have to remember any passwords, and creates a secure connection between your PC and online accounts. Once you add your accounts, the ID Vault Secure View browser ensures that your online interactions with Bank, Brokerage, and Credit Card sites are safe. Automatic security and whitelist updates ensure that you are always dealing with legitimate Web sites. A single secure PIN is all you need to access all of your online accounts. ID Vault works with your security software for total protection.

Regards.
