Tip & How-To about Garden

Quick pump troubleshoot

Start with the power and motor. When it's plugged in is there a noise or vibration? Smoke or burning electronic smell? If there is noise or vibration the pump motor is in working order. If it is still not pumping move to the next step.

Now for the impeller, gently turn it. Did it move? Is the turn rough or sticks? With pumps smaller than 1/8hp you can try carefully turning the impeller while powered on to get it spinning. Larger pumps this is not recommended.

Next check the hose fittings and the pumps seals. Are any fittings lose? Run water around the seams while the pump is running, carefully avoiding the motor and any electronics, if the pump starts to prime as you are running the water you have located the bad seal.

heater and aircon not working, loud rattling noise and smoke from vent, now not power to fan

It appears your fan itself burned out. When a field coil of an electrical fan burns out it usually makes a lot of smoke. The noise could be something that fell in there that stopped the fan from turning freely. I can imagine it heated up under the strain and burned out.

When you restarted it was burnt out so hence no noise and no fan.
The smell of the smoke should also be clue. Electrical field coils burning has an awful soury type of smell.

BURNING SMELL

If you can walk on your treadmill but you get a burning smell from it, you have a bad problem and discontinue use immediately and unplug the treadmill.

Burning smells are most commonly associated with the following problems:

1) Very high belt/deck friction.

2) Short in the motor.

3) Short in the wiring or electronics.

4) Literally cooking the lacquer or cardboard core (on cheap machines) in the motor from belt friction or a drive system

obstruction.

Friction is the #1 cause of this problem. Many cheaper treadmills have a motor with a cardboard core (people wonder why we are so

down on cheap treadmills) and if the voltage and amperage through the motor heats it up sufficiently, it begins to smolder. If this is the

case, you normally have to replace the belt and the motor and inspect the deck. If the armature has cooked enough in the motor, you

also have to replace the motor.

If the belt and deck check out OK, check for a short in the motor. You can run the motor with an independent power source like a fullycharged

cordless drill battery to see if the symptoms are the same. Click on the following link for our motor test.

If the belt and deck check out and the motor is OK, then check your wiring and electronics for signs of scorching and replace the

appropriate part(s).

If you need additional assistance, please reach me.sincerely. God bless you.

burning smell from motor

Hi,
Check your filter and also check that nothing got pulled into the motor...otherwise the motor is burning up and will need to be replaced... probably cheaper to replace the whole vacuum..

while starting my vaccum cleaner big noise and stream is coming . it is dead?

No Brand? I think you mean big noise and smoke? Smoke can be from a burning belt or dying motor. If it smells like burning rubber you likely have something jamming the brush roll. Otherwise suspect the bang came from a motor fan. Do not attempt to run. disassemble and inspect

burning smell and smoke from motor

Sounds like the transmission is jammed.  This will cause the motor to bog and burn.
