How to Restore a Password Keeper(Using Your Blackberry Phone)?

Blackberry has manufactured Research in Motion (RIM) desktop manager to help restore all Password Keeper entries when your Blackberry gets wiped out and your Password Keeper is down. There are two different ways to restore your Password Keeper.
Instructions

  1. Turn your Blackberry on, if not already activated.
  2. Open Password Keeper.
  3. Enter your password. Password Keeper restoration may not work if the password is too complicated, too long, or has too many different characters.
  4. Press Menu.
  5. Select Options.
  6. Turn off Wireless Synchronization option. Your Password Keeper entries will be restored.
  7. Turn back on the Wireless Synchronization option to bring back your Blackberry to normal.

i want to unlock my bb 9700 which i wrongly typed unlock code to more than 10 times.can i still use the phone again and how do i go about it?

Yes, definitely you can still use the phone but it will be restored to it's Manufacturers settings.

Just enter the incorrect password x10 times and your Blackberry will be wiped. Your personal data will be gone, but you can then enter a new password and start again.

note:

After the 10th attempt, if you get the password wrong, it will have you type in blackberry again and it will completely wipe your Blackberry of all your personal data and it will reload itself back to factory default.

Basically, this is a security measure in case someone gets a hold of your Blackberry and attempts to break in to get your personal information. RIM Blackberry does NOT have your password, so unfortunately a RIM tech support agent cannot retrieve your password.

Hopefully you have created a backup of your Data using the Desktop Manager, so if you cannot remember your password and the device wipes itself, you can restore your data from the backup with the Desktop Manager

I have purchased a Blackberry 8800 off of Criags list and have unlocked it but I cannot make or recieve calls. I do have text messaging and can get on line. It was a company phone that had an IT policy that I think is keeping me from using it. I have tried to down load the new OS and delete the policy but have been unsuccessful.

Step 1 Ensure the Blackberry Desktop Manager is installed using Blackberry Internet Service, and not Blackberry Enterprise Server. If you are unsure, it would probably be a good idea to uninstall the Desktop Manager and start again.

If you don't have the CD that came with your Blackberry, the Software can be downloaded here.

Step 2 Download the file policy.bin and save it in your Blackberry installation directory (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry).
Step 3 Wipe your Blackberry, creating a backup if necessary. Select Options/Security/Wipe on the Device.

If this option is unavailable, you may have to install the latest software on your Blackberry. You need to Download and install the latest Desktop Manger Software, then the latest Handheld Software. Connect your device, open the Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, and follow the prompts.

Step 4 Close the Desktop Manager if it is open.
Step 5 From the Windows Start Menu select Run..., and at the prompt type regedit. In the tree on the left hand side, navigate to:

HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager

Right-Click the Policy Manager Folder and select New/String Value. Name the value Path. Now, Double-Click the Path Subkey and set Value Data to:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\policy.bin
Step 6 Open the Desktop Manager.
Step 7 Connect the Device.

Verification
Once complete, the Options/Security screen on your Blackberry should not contain references to an IT Policy, you should now be able to change all settings (including password prompts), and install Third Party Applications.

Hi I have a blackberry 8700 I need to access the password keeper but must have changed the password by mistake Any suggestions ? Phil Frankland

Use the BB Desktop Manager, go to "Backup and Restore", Then click "Advanced". Select the Call Logs database on the right side and then click "Clear". It wipes your call logs, but you get your BB back without wiping. Worked for me!!
