Tip & How-To about Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1: Windows

Quick way to lock your Windows Based Computer from prying eyes

Microsoft Windows has a built -in feature to lock the desktop when you neeed to get up and leave your desk for that coffee or errand. Simply click START, and then Shutdown, and depending on the verison (Windows XP, Vista or Seven), click the appropriate button to lock your desktop.

However, there is a MUCH faster way. For all versions of Windows mentioned above, simply press the Windows Key and the L button on your keyboard, and viola, your desktop is locked!

UPDATE: Also works for Windows 8 and 8.1

How to set up my desktop in a clean way?

The Desktop Cleanup Wizard is a component included with Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. It aims to reduce the clutter in a user's desktop environment by moving unused shortcuts to a separate directory called "Unused Desktop Shortcuts"

If you are not using XP .
1.Right click on desk top.
2.Go to sort by and choose an option
3.Right click on desk top
4.Choose New
5.Select Folder. This will create a folder on your desk top which you can drag and drop all desk top icons that you do not need regularly.
6.Create another folder and use it for down loads. This will keep it clean.

Cannot use my password to get back into Windows XP

I would like to introduce Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 . it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password. I Wrote it to an old 128mb USB flash drive do this. Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm. You can download it from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com

hot to retrieve my desk top icons

OK what OS are you using..I am assuming Xp or Vista...I am assuming XP

These are desktop icons not system tray icons right...

This is for XP only if they are desktop icons...

To resolve this behavior, turn on the Show Desktop Icons feature:
  1. Right-click the desktop.
  2. Point to Arrange Icons By.
  3. Click Show Desktop Icons.
  4. If that didn't work go here:
