Tip & How-To about Crafts & Hobbies

Stainless Steel for Projects

There are advantages in using stainless for brackets and metal plating or even as shims. You can get a cheap source of Stainless metal by going to Garage sales and Estate sales and buying used Silverware.

In particular, knives are handy for shims and reinforcement of weak parts. You can drill needed holes and also cut the blade to the length you need.

The spoons can be used to stir or mix chemicals. The forks can be detined to a single probe and used to punch reset buttons or release Electric connector tabs.

Sometimes you can make a single purpose tool better than anything you can buy using this idea.

Here is one source:
I have provided the LG part numbers for the parts you are requesting. The vendor may need to convert those numbers to their own system.
Third item on the list should be: BRACKET, MOUNTING WITH SCREWS KIT --> LG part description and number: "ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY" 5001DD4001A

The lower cover assembly for Stainless part number is: 3551DD2001C To maintain quiet operation, recommend you order the "Lower Felt" part number 4766DD2004A
Good Luck!

Want to replace dishwasher panel with stainless steel

I'm not sure if that replacemetn part would work, but I know you can get cheap stainless panels and faux stainless options at applianceart.com. They have colors, textures, seasonal, designs, and stainless steel. You can choose between faux stainless (as seen on HGTV and the Today show) or regular stainless metal. check out www.applianceart.com

www.applianceart.com has many options for you to choose from. They sell many different panels to put on your dishwasher. If you call them (678-727-4747 x32) they can also send you a metal stainless plate that is easily installed. I think the metal ones are around $99.99 and the other options are $39.99
