Tip & How-To about Cell Phones
· Try and restore your phone using the factorysoftware. Most modern cell phones come with factory software that allows you torestore the phone to a previous backup point using the USB data connection onyour PC. This point is usually updated each time the phone is connected to yourcomputer, so if you can restore it this wayyou should be able to recover all the text messages that were present on yourphone at that time. · 2 Search for the messages on your simcard with a recovery program. Some phones store a running log of text messageson the sim card for a certain amount of time. While the factory software won'tallow you to read this data, you can purchase third party software that willpermit you to access all of the information on the sim card in order to findout if your lost text messages have been backed up or stored there. · 3 Visit your carrier's retail storeand ask one of the employees to recover your text messages using a carrierspecific program. Certain cell phone carriers have recovery software programsthat are not available to the public, but can be used in their retail stores byemployees to perform certain procedures on phones such as data recovery. · 4 Contact the telephone customerservice line for your carrier and find out if they are able to send copies ofyour text messages to you. You can usually receive them by email, or even inthe form of a duplicate text message, but not all carriers offer this serviceand some will require you to pay extra if they comply with your request. · 5 Find out if you can get copies fromthe other party or person that you were messaging. If you had a textconversation that you lost, and have tried every other way to recover yourmessages you can check with the person whom you were messaging and see if theystill have a copy of the conversation on their cell phone. Depending upon thecircumstances of the conversation they may or may not agree to this, but ifyou've exhausted all of your other option it's worth a try.
