Sometimes the DVD or CD drive tray does not open. You hear it try to open but it doesn't. Take it apart and replace the belt. Click on the following link to see photos of how to replace the belt: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=171157522928620&set=a.171157189595320.37082.104583522919354

my jvc 5 disc player wont play cd nor dvd.says tray errr. wont open to eject dics or play

It is possible that the loading belt needs to be replaced, or the timing gears are out of sink, either way it must be taken apart to find the problem, sometimes I find the gears ware out causing the unit to lock up. When you hit the eject button do you hear a motor running? that should be the sound of the loading mechanism trying to eject the tray.

You don't give any details about the problem it's having, so here are some common things.

If the drive is not operating at all (tray doesn't move or try to move when you press the button), check the power connector on the rear of the drive. These sometimes work loose and the drive gets no power.

If the tray won't slide out but you hear it trying to open, it's usually because the small drive belt inside is slipping. While replacements can be found, it's faster and probably cheaper to replace the drive. The cost of the belt and the time spent to change it just isn't worth it. New drives are inexpensive.

If the drive doesn't detect discs or has intermittent read problems, it's probably a weak or misaligned laser. Someone on this site has a tip (can't remember who, but you can search for it) on how to try adjusting the laser power. Again, you're probably better off just replacing the drive. Even if tinkering with the power gets it reading again for a while, the drive will still need replacement at some time.

PC s/n = 0029975695: The tray will not eject. When

The usual problem with disc drives is a little belt that drives the loading tray. It stretches with age and slips, so the motor turns but the belt doesn't. If you want to take the time to try finding one, the belt is replaceable.

On the other hand, new DVD/CD burners are only around $30, so it's usually not worth trying to repair the drive. It's faster and easier to put in a new one.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

The drawer for CD/DVD on my T6528 will not open

Hi Grandma Patti,

To test the theory of bad drivers follow this instruction >>>>>>

Right click on My Computer and select Manage from the sub menu.
A computer management window will pop up so select Device Manager from the list on the left hand side.
A device list will populate. Look in the list for DVD/CD ROM drives and click on the + icon next to the DVD/CD.
Right click on the actual DVD/CD drive and select uninstall, click Yes to any warnings given and then restart your PC.

Once the computer has restarted wait for the operating system to reinstall the drivers for the DVD/CD drive and then try to eject the disk tray.
Listen closely to the drive to see if you can hear it trying to eject.

If it still won't eject then chances are the disk tray is getting trapped on the drop down flap on the front of the computer case.
Pull that flap down and push the eject button on the DVD/CD drive and see if it will eject.

If its still won't eject then what E-Machines customer services have told you is correct and you will need a new drive.
They are inexpensive around $30.

If the drive still reads disks then your stuck with using a pin until you can have the drive replaced.

The very best of luck to you.

All you can do is the usuall checks:- try, go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down the list to cd/dvd drives, click on the '+' and right click on your listed drive and select uninstall. restart the pc and then the drive will be re installed with drivers automatically. if it still won't eject then there is a drive fault.
