Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

How to reset the Belkin router ?

What ever may be the model of Belkin router, It can be Reset by pressing and holding the reset button on the router using a paper clip for 15 secs when the power is turned ON.

If you do a reset the router will go to its factory defaults. Then you may be required to reconfigure your router according to your ISP.

Belkin routers will have 3 series of model numbers....
1) F5DXXXX
2) F6DXXX and
3) F7DXXXX

F5d and F6d series by default do not have security for the wireless network. So when you do a reset, your wireless network will be an unsecured network. You need to configure the wireless security if you need.

F7d series by default will have a WPA/WPA2 security for wireless on it. It will have a network name and password printed at the bottom of the router itself. The password is the network key and it is Case-sensitive(you need to type exactly the same case letters, upper/lower case).

I have a laptop that I use your Belkin wireless router to connect to the internet along with my desktop which is connected directly to the internet. I tried to set up a secure network and then I could not access the internet from either computer. I need to know how to return this wireless router back to factory settings so I can use it again. Right now I only have access to the internet because I took the Belkin router out of the system.

To restore the Belkin back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole reset button with a paper clip and then insert the power cord for 15 secs. then release the RESET button and after a further 15 secs. the router will boot up.
Enter the Belkin's configuration URL and login to change your settings.
