Electronic items like cameras are quite complicated to operate but the manual easily gets lost, especially on CD.
Luckily manufacturers often provide free downloads for user manuals and software updates on their support websites, so this is the first place to look.

The usual format for downloaded documents is '.pdf' so you will need to have installed on your PC a program which can read pdf files. Acrobat Reader is often quoted as being required but it is cumbersome and, being complicated, can sometimes cause problems. A popular alternative is Foxit Reader, which is free and can be downloaded here:-
If you cannot save the document because of restrictions, you can usually print individual pages and the program called 'snipping tool' for Vista and Windows 7 can also be very useful.
