Tip & How-To about Televison & Video
You try to turn on your Sony TV and nothing happens. Then you notice that the standby light is blinking. Counting determines that it is two blinks about a second apart followed by about a three second pause.
Your problem is that the B+ over current protection circuit has been tripped. This could be a short in any of the power supply circuits.
Fortunately these days circuit boards are not that expensive. I would recommend replacing the defective board. The board with all the power supplies in a Sony is generally the "A" board and contains the High Voltage power supply.
Two of the best places to get the board are http://www.encompass.com or http://www.shopjimmy.com . Prices are similar but both sites are trustworthy and will allow you to return the boards if they are not the problem.
If you haven't replaced a circuit board I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6981868-replace_circuit_board_in_modern_tvs which explains the process and should be helpful to complete the repair.
Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.
