How to download the OS firmware?

Hi, I'm in the process of restoring a Masterlink, and have just done what you are trying to do. Go to this link:

http://www.alesis.com/masterlink

Read through the materials and then go into "Docs and Downloads" and there you will find the "System Software Update Guide", which explains how to determine which OS version you need based on your serial number, so you can create the ISO disc for the OS you need. I suggest you print it out for easy reference. Then download and unzip the OS files and create your Operating System ISO CD. The instructions are pretty clear so if you're methodical you should have no problems getting up and running soon. Have fun!

How to use telephone modem in mac ? Can you guide me through step by step to use telephone modem in macbook ?

Unfortunately dial-up modems are no longer made by Apple. However, there are still a number of dial-up modems available from third parties - Zoom and Belkin still make USB-based dialup modems, I believe, and Apple did at one point make a modem that may still be available through third-party retailers such as Amazon or Ebay.

Whichever you choose, install the software that it comes with and then follow these instructions:

  1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. From the View menu, choose Network.
  3. Choose "Internal Modem" from the Show pop-up menu (or the "Configure" pop-up menu prior to Mac OS X v10.1).
If your computer does not have a built-in modem, select your external modem.
  4. Mac OS X v10.5 or later: From the Configuration pop-up menu, choose Add Configuration.
Mac OS X 10.4.x or earlier: Click the PPP tab.
  5. Enter your information into the relevant fields. Your username goes in the Account Name field, for example. If you want to copy this connection information to other user accounts on this computer, select "Save password".
  6. You should now be able to connect. If you need to configure DNS servers or other advanced settings, continue to the next step.
  7. Mac OS X v10.5 or later: Click the Advanced button, then click the DNS tab.
Mac OS X v10.4 or earlier: Click the TCP/IP tab. Choose either PPP or Manually from the Configure pop-up menu, as instructed by your Internet service provider. If configuring manually, type the IP address in the matching field.
  8. Type the DNS server addresses in their field if necessary (click the "+" button first in Mac OS X v10.5 or later).
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Apply (or Apply Now for Mac OS X v10.4 or earlier).
Good luck!

I have linksys wireless-G 2.4Ghz broadband router connected to a pc. My wife bought a MAC and wants to get rid of the PC. Is the router compatible with a MAC? If so how do I download the software to set it up?

Hi! Absolutely, the Router is OS independent. All you need is a computer with a properly configured Ethernet LAN adapter and a web browser to configure the Router. Any platform that supports Ethernet & TCP/IP is compatible with the router. You may need to provide additional hardware & software (i.e. Ethernet cards and/or software drivers) to ensure that all clients operate with the router.

By default of your mac computer it has already a buil-in LAN port same as your pc and it should be properly configured. just connect the cable from the mac lan port and the other end goes to your port 1 to 4 of the linksys router and it should give you an internet connection. if there is no internet access, pls check the ff:
1. Go to system preferences, network
2. It will pop up the network window
3. location set it to automatic
4. show - set it to built in ethernet
5. once you set it to built in on the lower portion it should set to tcp/ip and the ip address should show, once there is an ip address, you should get an internet connection, sabe or apply the settings
6. you are going to do the same thing if you are going to set the pc on a wireless connection.

if you have any querry pls feel to get in touch..
