Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Properly recharge the battery of a laptop

The best use of a battery, regardless of its use (PC, car, rechargeable lamp) is still work to do in charges and discharges, otherwise it gets used (it keeps the memory) load short and even totally déchergée, most will not resume its initial capacity.
A laptop is made to go in nature and therefore to work regularly on drums. A PC that remains permanently in the office sector will see its battery quickly died.
The best solution is to unplug the power cord as often as possible when the battery is fully charged and allowed to drain up to 30% capacity.

I cannot charge the battery using the ac adapter or USB port on my computer even the charge lamp does not light up can you please help

If a lithium battery is too deeply discharged or the cells matching become unbalanced from many deep discharges, then it can be permanently damaged. The chargers often have over discharge detection circuits, which prevent you from recharging the battery under these circumstances. This is because the battery when overdischarged, could vent or overheat etc. if recharged.
Overdischarge can happen if you don't recharge the camera after using it and then leave it in the closet for a long time before trying to recharge.
This often happens with laptops if you don't remove the battery when storing it for months. The laptop uses a small amount of current even when switched off and this causes the over discharge.
Best bet is to try and charge a new battery, to see that the charger is ok.

Your rechargable batteries may not be used up if they aren't taking a good charge

Just to add that NiMH rechargeables, as used in most digital cameras these days, don't suffer from the memory effect anything like as much as the older NiCads used to.

Just use them until your camera shuts off then recharge.

If the rechargable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

When to recharge batter

hi right to be honest both ways are correct, but if your using it every day then its best to put it back on the charger after every use, but the problem with this is that the battery never goes totally flat, so never does a full recharge this reduces the life of the battery by upto 50% so if you are using it regular and need it charged daily then its best to once a month let the battery go totally flat so that it wont even make a sound then do a full recharge.
Doing this will ensure the battery remains at peak performance and make it last longer.

If how ever your only using it say once a week then its best to only charge after the battery has gone flat due to the fact that it would remain on charge longer and cause the battery to over heat reducing the life span of the battery.

But witch ever method you use always let the battery go totally flat once a month then do full recharge this will prolong the life of the battery and ensure it keeps working at full power.

sorry but does the dw911 xe type 1 radio charge the battery

Yes, the DeWalt radio will recharge the batteries, from the 12 Volt to 18 Volt versions. However, even with the radio plugged into an AC outlet, you have to either have the radio turned on, or have the unit in the AUX setting, in order for the batteries to get charged.

It typicaly takes about an hour +/- to fully charge a discharged battery. I normally don't put batteries directly into a charger right after they become discharged from being used in a tool, since they are still warm from use and charging them will generate more heat in the recharging

Heat is the enemy of rechargeable batteries, so to get the longest working life out of your batteries, I'd let them cool down first, before recharging them, unless you absolutely need to use them right away, then go ahead and recharge them. If you can delay recharging them until they've cooled down, you'll get a more fuller recharge out of them.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
